How many times can medicine be changed? | ADHD Information

Be glad it's only 4 times.  My son is 6 1/2 and we've gone through 5 different meds in the last year.  If/when untolerable side effects occur or growth takes place, you have to look at other options. Not all medications or dosages work well so you have to keep trying till you find what works, especially now she is a teen her hormones are changing, I'm going through this with my son

My stepdaughter has been on ADD/ADHD medication since she was 7 years of age and now 14.  Her mom has changed her medication 4 times since we have been in a custody battle. Can medicine be changed like this? Last summer she was on Concerta 40mg. My husband took her off completely and it seemed she was doing fine! Mom got temporary custody and had Concerta when she got back from her visit in August. September 30mg MetadateCD. October 60mg MetadateCD. Now since we are to be in court Wednesday. Took her off the 60mg and placed her on Starrea 25mg. We have been told to look for depression taken off such a high dosage to Starrea.
