Stomach pain on meds? | ADHD Information
After months of tweaking, we finally found if my 8-year old sontakes one 27mg concerta and one 2.5 focalin in the a.m. he does
really well. (I deleted the afternoon focalin because of sleep issus.)
However after two months of this combination, he has been
complaining of stomach pain and nausea, not to mention his sleep
issues have re-surfaced!
What's going on and what should I do?
Strattera gave me BAD stomach pains constantly. It sucked. My son had stomach problems on all ADHD meds, vomiting, headaches, etc. We took him off all meds with doc's approval. I get stomach cramps on Adderall, but I don't know if it is similar to Strattera?
My daughter takes 54 mg of Concerta and she too complains of stomach aches!
it is a common side effect according to our dr.

My son had stomach pain on all the meds ,Adderall,Stratara, etc... He also lost weight because he would not eat. His Dr. put him on D-Amphetamine. He has had no side affects at all.He also had trouble sleeping. He is on 4 meds total. No sids affects from any of them. But it took 2 years to get the right meds and combo. He is now gaining weight (back to his normal size). His little hip bones were sticking out. HAD ME SCARED. I went to his Dr. and told him that I refuse to give him something that had this affect on him. Also told him that it would be as easy as a phone call to change Dr's if he did not want to listen to me. After all I know him better than anyone. Please don't let a Dr. make you think he or She knows your child better that you.
[/QUOTE] Almost with any meds for ADHD you have a chance of stomach pain,restlessness and sleeplessness. it really is a trial and error thing. my son takes strattera but my daughter could not stay on it because it made her vomit. it all really depends on the child. and lord knows my son's meds had to be changed so many times to find one that really works for him. my daughter is currently taking Ritalin LA and that really works for her, but alot of times i have to feed her because she gets hungry in spurts. so just watch your son, and if you feel he is getting sick, go to your dr and they will try something else. there are alot of different meds out there to try out.
