adderall withdrall | ADHD Information

First of all, your doctor is an idiot.  Anyone who knows anything about Adderall or similar meds, (especially higher dosages for extended periods) knows the horrible withdrawals that can (no, WILL) occur.  Did he suspect that you were abusing?

I can relate totally to your side effects...if I go even a day or two without taking Adderall, the same things happen...extreme fatigue, sleeping all the time, and becoming really depressed.

I'd see another doctor.  Good luck!

Even if it were time for you to stop taking them, you should come down very gradually, taking even up to a couple of months.  Good luck though, if it's whats best for you, you can do it!!!

First of all, I do understand what it is like to stop medications cold turkey.  I did it when I became pregnant.  It was awful.  You should have been weaned off of it.  Perhaps you could have another discussion with your doctor.  Reiderate how you feel.

Second, I empathize with you regarding your desire to be supermom.  In this day and age, it is almost impossible to keep up with a "normal" day much less if you are lacking much needed medications.

I hope you either have another conversation with your doctor or find another one although I know it is a pain to locate another after you have been with the same one for so long.

Good luck.....

I stopped taking adderal on my own because I wanted to try an herbal supplement.  I stopped cold turkey and didn't notice any feelings of coming down.  I was taking 30 mg once a day, extended.  I stopped and tried Focus Formula, a supplement I found at GNC (heath supplement store.)  I didn't notice any change. I liked the herbs much better.  But after a while, like 6 months, the herbs don't seem to work any more.  So, I'm thinking of going back to the doctor and seeing about starting again on the medications.  It seems like it works like this for me with both the drugs and the herbs.  They work great for a while, then I need a stronger dose or I need to change to a different thing.

I read a book called Stopping ADHD  and it tells about an exercise program that will cure your ADD or ADHD.  They claim that your add is really caused because you are uncomfortable from a reflex that was never developed as a baby.  The book makes total sense to me.  It takes a lot of dedication to try these exercises but I am going to start this summer.  They are all there in the book.  It doesn't cost much.  So, I hope that this helps me also.

If anyone has tried this method, I would love to hear from you.

Please help.... I need to know what someone else thinks

thanks...

WMKK... whatever makes you feel your best should be what you stick with.  The good news is that both Ritalin and Adderall are active the same day you take them, so you shouldnt have to wait for weeks and weeks to get it sorted out.  Talk to your doctor... even though you took the Adderall w/o a script for it, hopefully you have an understanding doctor who will accommodate you and work with you... don't be afraid to tell them about it if you think it would work better for you... the only reason they might get upset over it is if they think you're addicted.  Dunno what more to say, good luck getting what you need. Why the heck did he stop it? My doctor said that if the med works then I'll be on it forever...it's kinda like glasses.  I have been on adderall for 6 years. I was taking 30 mg 4 times a day sometimes more with PMS. plus 2 , 15mg dexadrine.  This past week my doctor stopped all med's. I told him what happens if I get sick I have been on this for so long "he said you should not get sick unless your addicted "no sh*t. After six years at this high of a dose one might expect I'd be addicted. I have slept for the past four day's and I feel so depressed crying at the drop of a hat . No energy what so ever and I am in the middle of a distance learning program.  No active brain cells, I have no idea how to handle this. I am or was a very active person super mom. Super mom is dying inside so ashamed of being sick and so pissed at this doctor who claims to be a specialist in adhd.  Does anyone know how I can get through this with out looseing control.  Any advise would be helpful Please don't say Get Over ItThat is odd your Dr stopped all the meds at once after all this time! I think you should see another Doctor, especially if you feel so awful. You shouldn't have to feel this way. Hugs.
