I've been taking Strattera for a couple of months. I felt an immediate impact. My ability to maintain a concentrated stream of thought became effortless. I could work all day uninterrupted by the myriad distractions the ADDer puts up with. I had a few side effects at first, was cold, got sleepy in the afternoon, nothing to keep me from stopping the meds. However, a couple of weeks ago I started getting heart palpitations, elevated pulse and coughing. In fact, while running on a treadmill at the gym my heart rate skyrocketed to 239. Yikes! Figured my heart rate monitor was faulty, but took my pulse manually and it really was that high. Odd thing was I felt fine. Now up until that point the most my HR had ever been, while training (strenuously), was ~180. Time to stop Strattera. I've stopped, but still have heart pops, high pulse, etc. Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes the body to metabolize this stuff...get back to normal? Can I get back to normal?
thx for any info.
I think it takes about 2 weeks. You should be closer now and doing better.Camaronal7,
You did not mention if you called your Dr. Did your Dr. tell you to stop taking the Stratterra? What makes you think that the Stratterra is the problem? The heart palpitations may not have anything to do with taking the Stratterra.
The human body is very much like a jigsaw problem. Just because a piece looks like it should fit in somewhere does not mean that it actually belongs the first place you try to put it.
Were there other possible factors that you have not considered?
Stattera took a long time for me to break down
HI--
I took Strattera from the very day it came out on the market (maybe 2.5 years ago?) and stopped taking it to switch to Adderall.
I had no withdrawal, whatsoever, coming off of 100mg daily Strattera.
I'm REALLY having a hard time with weight gain, however, on Adderall and now Ritalin. I'm thinking I need to go back to Strattera...and wonder if you can take both Ritalin AND Strattera together...
