How long for Adderall to "kick in"? | ADHD Information
adderall decreases appetite drastically - that, or even if you are physically hungry, it feels like you'd (mentally) just rather not be bothered with eating (this is how it feels to me anyway). in order to stay healthy, you have to be mindful of this and *schedule* your meals in if you need to. if you just don't feel like eating much at all, make sure what you *do* eat is packed with protein & healthy fat, like nuts or protein bars, or a pb sandwich. I've been taking AXR for almost 2 weeks now.
I've got a very full day so I stagger it, 20mg morning (830ish) and
10mg around noon. I'm always up till 1-2am anyway. I've noticed that it
feels like I don't want to sleep but if I just lie down and let go, I
drift off. This is new to me becuase I had insomnia before... I do tend
to wake up a little earlier tho. I don't use an alarm and I've been
waking around 6 to 6.5 hours after nodding off. used to be closer to
7-7.5. Still feel rested tho. I admit, days i go to the gym, it's esier
to sleep.
I've been considering lowering the dose to
10/10 from 20/10. I really enjoy the high in the morning, but I feel
that's more a pleasent reaction to taking speed than anything. The
slightly robotic feeling that comes on 2 hours later is, in my opinion,
the adderall doing it's job. I'm still me, just less... all over the
place. I have clever thoughts, laugh at jokes, still have inspirations,
just not so frantic. Hope this will resonate with some of you.
About food: I take my morning dose right after
waking up. Even if I'm hungry, I'll stop being by +30 to +40 min in. I
now make myself eat no more than 1.5 hours after I dose or I get all
jittery and weird. The first few days I realized that I had to munch a
protien bar or something every two hours or I got that dirty, jittery
feeling one gets on stimulants. I lost 5 lbs the first 4 days and
gained it back after I started eating agian. Food really makes a
difference. Lessens the side effects too, at least for me.
No no, Adderall releases fast and does not build up, like Strattera. You should feel it fast every time you take it. Don't take it took late or you won't sleep. Holy bejeebus....
I took Adderall this morning at 7:45am and chased it will some All-Bran
cereal and a high protein power bar...I just now at 4:30pm ate lunch. I
have, as my favorite British friend says, "been of me t*ts" all day! Is
that because I need to eat more during the day if I am taking Adderall?
I just switched from 40mgs of Strattera a day (which made me toooo
tired) to 10mgs of Adderall XR a day...which might be bumped up to
twice a day.
How long does it take for the Adderall to really be working 100% effectively?
Thank you!
It should only take 40 or so minutes to kick in (your first dose of XR).So, Adderall XR doesn't need to take weeks to build up in your system
like Strattera? I did notice that my appetite was nil the day I took it
and I also couldn't get to sleep last night until about 3:30am. Dang.
