Excellent Idea!
I tried this yesterday when my little guy went down for his nap. Every 30 mins I would move onto something else alternating between tasks I've been dreading and fun stuff I like to do. I got so much done, my wife couldn't believe it :) Heck, I couldn't believe it!
Thanks for the great and simple idea.

I kind of laughed when I read this...but that may work for me!
I'm always talking about deadlines as motivation for me...I'll have to try this tonight!
Timer trick has worked for me sometimes. But . . . having 4 kids and the interuptions that is another story!!!! I use a digital watch. This trick doesn't always work for me. However, it is a wonderful tool when I am at the park and tell the kids they have 5 mins. left-I then set the watch. When it goes off I tell the kids-the timer's going off. For some reason the kids reaction to this is not as bad as the reaction to me saying "time to leave". It makes me less of the bad guy.

We used to do that working in daycare. They claimed it kept the kids from getting bored too soon & kept them busy.I also use this method. The reason that it works so well with ADHD'ers is because naturally, we like to procrastinate. When the timer is ready to go off and we are cleaning or doing whatever we tend to do much better under the pressure of the time almost ending. Make sure you're strict with the times if you try it; that's the whole point! among other things, it is a reminder at the end of our -lazy break- that Hey, it's time to do stuff......otherwise it's TOO EASY to lose track of time. It's a great tool!!!!! Especially in the house.
