Job interviews | ADHD Information

I can only agree with eliza's advice.

Only a few days ago, i had a job intreview myself. Of course, i had to
explain about short term employments and unfinished university
business. For me, it works best if i do not prepare too much. I am better
at reacting to the situation as it goes. When i think too much about the
conversation in advance, i easily get confused if communication takes a
different path and i tend to be less attentive.

Recalling the best situations from the past is important for me. First, it
cheers me up. Second, it helps me finding some topics that i like to talk
about. It is also very helpful to know as much about the potential
employer as you can.

During the interview, i try to ask questions. The idea is:
1. get some clue about the expected style of communication
2. not beeing in the position to react and explain
3. find some point where you can talk about things you liked / that went
well. Your appearance will be a lot better when you talk about these
things and your glowing eyes might be so convinving that there is less
digging into your past later
4. show your interest in their business

But be very, very careful that the other people get the word too :)

good luck!

Just say the last position was a 3 month temp position. Or perhaps that you moved and it was too hard to get to.

You could say that you've had lots of short term jobs because you have been getting lots of experience in different types of jobs, but now you're ready for a real challenge, and you're looking for a long term position where you can apply those skills and do well.

Concentrate on what you can do in this job, and have some questions to ask them, such as, "What kind of person could do well at a company like this". Make sure you take the questions with you, written on a piece of paper. Otherwise when they ask if you have questions your mind will go blank. Mine always does and I have to say no, and I look dumb.

If I take the questions and pull them out it looks like I prepared more.

That way they are less likely to focus on why you left your last job, or push you into admitting you were crap at it.

good luck!

Does anyone have last minute advice on job interviews? I'm worried that the people interviewing me will think I'm flaky because I only lasted at my last job for 3 months  before I was forced to resign. It was either get fired or resign. Should I just say something about "career advancement" or how the job wasn't a good fit for me or something about how it wasn't challenging enough.  My job really was boring and not very stimulating. It wasn't very challenging yet I still sucked at it. Does that make sense? And I'm just worried that my overall qualifications suck. Is there anything I can do about that during my interview? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just blew an interview last week. I was incredibly qualified for the position and was really looking forward to getting the job. I think I was trying too hard to concentrate and in the end I really wasn't myself. I felt like I had an out of body experience, looking down at myself and watching myself screw up and I couldn't do anything about it.

I'd love to tell you to just be yourself. Don't worry about your previous short-term employment. Call it soul-searching. Call it a temp position. Call it whatever you want. Just call it something and stick with it.

Good luck and let us all know how it turns out

I like the temp idea.  Good luck and think positive.
