Cost of Meds | ADHD Information
My adult daughter was prescribed Straterra to help with her adult ADHD which has lead to a struggle with self-medicating herself (alcohol and pain meds). The problem is that the cost of the Straterra and councilling fees is more than she can afford (no insurance). Does anyone have any information or ideas on how to cope with the expense without going off the drug? Thanks!!!Contact strattera and let them no. Some companies will help with no insured people. The company that makes strattera is Eli Lilly. They have a patient assistance program. The phone number is 800-545-6962. Depending on your daughters income, they will give free meds through her doctor. You can download the application over their website. Really easy. Her doctor will need to fill out part f the application and then you send it in and they send a four month supply to her doctor to give to her. You have to reapply every four months but it is really easy and well worth it.How well has this gone for you macsworld?
I have a similar situation. I am 25 and I have no insurance and
little income. However, I do attend school full time. I was
wondering what I could do to get myself checked out through a
doctor.

This is most likely the case for a lot of us here. Even copays add up also. All medical if 1/3 of your income is spent is tax deductable. We don't medicate our son since he is homeschooled. He is 11 and struggles but Ace is self paced and you do it till mastered so makes no difference. All work under 80's is repeated til mastered. He has repeated 1st grade. This was the best thing we did for him. He gets social things from church. If he were in public school it would be harder for him and we would have to medicate him for sure.
You could move to canada! LOL - Just kidding.
It is expensive - even here. My company has a great insurance plan but even they won't touch strattera because there are other drugs for ADHD out that are cheaper. With my dose (40mg) of strattera it costs me 140 CDN. Still a chunk of money but cheaper by a long shot than the states. I guess you could go through an internet prescription company in Canada. It's grey market and could save you about 60 percent the way I figure it.
Good luck - it's good meds so I hope you get some kind of help!
Thankfully my mom has ADHD also...she understands and buys my adderall for me 0 a month and not even all i need.....I moved back to my fam doc who has been helping me since 17 ( i'm 30 now)because no other doc where i used to live believed me i was completely honest i was/am addidctid to vicodin/vicoprophen/t3 ect....he even agreed he had to up my dose so i wouldn't have to self medicate......its been 2 mos since i "used"

and actually don't even think about it much....even had a script in the house and didn't bother me ...for real!!!!!!!
