Hi, im 14 and i've been taking adderall XR 25 mg for about 2 months. When i first started i immediately realized that i never ate, my doctor said that my body would get used to it and i'd be eating normally soon. But as i keep on taking adderall XR, my grades get better, but my physical state gets worse. These are the things that i have been experiencing (in chronological order) :
1. Loss of appetite, i now weigh 91 pounds and i'm 66 inches tall (5 feet and 6 inches tall)
2. Lethargy and loss of personality, i no longer want to hang out with friends or do anything physical, i never get to know new people because of shyness, whenever i answer a question or say something i feel like im in the spotlight. I am now extremely self-conscious, nervous, shy, and i'm embarressed easily. Also, i would normally fall asleep at 10:00 - 10:30, now i fall asleep at 12:30 AM - 2:30 AM
3. Stinging pain in the lower part of my ribs or in the center of my ribs. Also, extremely NASTY taste in my mouth, followed by dry-mouth.
4. Naseau ( feel like slight movement will make me throw up)
5. I keep on coughing up nasty bits of stuff from my lungs that are as big as the circular cap that are put on perscription bottles. The stuff i cough up is like mucus except it has much higher viscosity and is a dark tanish color.
The Good Aderall does for me is that it lets me concentrate and i raised my grades from C's and D's to A's and B's. If anyone has had these kinds of conditions or advice then please tell me. Also, will i get over any of these symptoms? Has anyone else had similar experiences and switched to another medication that works without the symptoms?
Fackinolii38492.6108101852My advice to you: See a different doctor. A good doctor would ask about these symptoms and recognize that they are NOT normal and that your dose should either be lowered or your med switched. Definitely contact your doctor/ a new doc ASAP and take care of yourself!

thats a good idea actually. most of my friends take concerta, but a few say that it gave them side effects and straterra works for them.

Im 15 and have been taking Adderall XR for about 3 or so months.
Ive definitely noticed a decrease in my appetite. Im 5'1 and Im naturally thin, but now Im losing weight because of the Adderall. I was around 95 lbs. but I dropped down to about 86 lbs. But my grades definitely have improved a lot. I feel a whole lot better about myself and everything so I dont want to quit taking it. But I just often feel really bad physically.
Since Ive actually began to feel better about myself, Ive been a lot better socially. I also havnt felt any nausea or stinging pain. I have had a huge problem with the dry mouth though.
I dont know, you should talk to your doctor about switching medicine's. I was first put on Strattera and apparently it was giving me anxiety so I switched to Adderall. But it works really really well for other people.
If the weight issue gets TOO bad for me though, Im going to have to try something else.
My daughter didn't gain any weight the year she took only Adderall. Because of the combination of all the side effects, she started taking Strattera TOO, her appetite returned. She currently takes 30 mg Adderall XR and 60 mg Strattera each day.
I'd suggest you stamp your feet next time you talk to your doctor and tell him/her that these side effects are intolerable and you want to try other meds!
well, i just found out what the problem was. my mom didnt know that i wasnt supposed to take 2 pills, i was supposed to take one, each containing 25 mg, so in all reality, i was on 50 mg. we found out just after 12 days and i started taking my prescribed dosage of 25 mg. now i dont feel most of the symptoms/effects. It was the 50 mg of adderall making me feel bad right? Fackinolii38497.8316898148My son had been taking adderall for quite a few years.He is 12 and very under weight.I was worried because he had not gained any weight in 2 years.When he was on it he also lost his personality but he became a straight A student.He also had alot of trouble sleeping at night.He has just recently started taking straterra.He sleeps better and I'm watching his appetite.Hopefully it will work and his grades will stay good.I hope he can become more social.Good luck to you,watch your weight,adderall can really affect it.Do you take the 25mg all at once in the moringing?
