I get so easily irritated on Concerta | ADHD Information
especially in the morning and early afternoon. I hate this, it works but it seems to make me esp. edgy. I am taking Wellbutrin with it too and I am hoping it works soon. I feel like nothing is going right yet I also feel like I may be overreacting to stupid things.....is this normal? Does it subside after you've been on the meds for a while? Did you feel edgy before wellbutrin? Aggression is a wellbutrin side effect along with countless other weird side effects.
I felt edgy on Wellbutrin before but I was also on Paxil CR at the same time. My doctor took me off of the Paxil and the Wellbutrin and just had me on the Concerta. Then, when I last saw her two weeks ago, I explained to her that I was really down and edgy and just plain feeling bad. She decided that maybe I did need the Wellbutrin after all. So here I am on 36mg of concerta and 150 of the Wellbutrin. I'm so frustrated, I don't know what to do , I feel like crying constantly. I"m just really down and snappy. I definately don't remember being like this before taking the concerta.
I was wondering if Ritalin would be different?Adderall definitely makes me much more easily irritated. Especially at
the end of the day, I get upset by the smallest annoyances. I am not
more anxious or less happy. Just less easygoing...friends who don't
know I'm on meds notice...and think it's PMS or something.
But I don't get PMS...
Truthfully I knew within the 1st week, but it doesn't hurt to try a full two just to make sure- like I said I prefer ritalin better. Just remember that this is not an exact science. Prescribe the same
drugs to 10 different people and get 10, sometimes completely different
results. Sounds to me like Concerta may be the culprit. Sometimes these
"side-effects" can abate with time, sometimes not. Stimulants like
Concerta can produce a hypomania from which you have to come down.
Hence the the edgy feelings. Solving this problem can be a
Catch-22. The drug provides the clarity, then the edgy feeling so you
sedate the person resulting in less clarity. Kind of like going around
in a circle.
Thanks for responding!!! What I *think* is happening is that the Concerta is giving me a lot of axiety. I didn't take the Concerta today and I feel good. Go figure lol...I don't know what the heck to do!I took concerta for a while and did not like it-I switched to Ritalin which I like much better. Like I said before, I also took wellbutrin for along time until it quit working. There is nothing wrong with trying out different meds until you find one that works. Just keep in mind the side effects of starting meds, increasing doses, and withdrawl effects and make sure you give each med time to assess whether or not it is working.
Thank you, you have no idea how much I appreciate this information. How long should I give the Concerta before giving up on it and moving on to something different?
