Okay who hear has found that changing your childs diet helped instead of using meds. My son is on meds for school time only so that he can sit and do his work. If he is at home we live in country and he has lots of room to move. If I take him to the movies I still dont give him his meds. I just tell him quietly to sit and shhh ....if it is good movie he will sit and watch it. I just find sometimes he is just bouncing off the walls and other times he is doing okay . Is there really a food connection. I dont give my children alot of pop or junk. Heck they mostly drink water. But there is times they do get to go over board on the junk. I would like to hear what ppl have to say about foods and how it has helped...thanks to all
I guess no one has anything to say about foods over the meds...thanks anyways

Very interesting and lots of email support, up to date info etc. Based on the Friendly Food Diet developed by the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Allergy Unit in Melb Australia and focuses on food intolerance to natually occuring Salicylates, Amines and MSG in foods (most fruit is very high in salicylates, amines are in cheese, aged meat etc and MSG is in friut and veg)
I am am on Dex, recently diagnosed with ADHD, I did go on the diet a while ago, pre diagnosis and found it did help significantly...it was very hard to continue to do as we had gone off on a big trip up north of Australia where it was nigh impossible to get the foods I needed. Anyway am planning on giving it another go soon and finding out which of the three culprits or which two or is all three that I need to avoid. Meantime have observed a mohther who was at her wits end with her child's behaviour and after a long haul has dicovered it is amines...her life and her family life has had a complete turn around for the better. He is still an unusual little soul, but he is so much happier in himself and his anger frustration and aggression has almost completely disappeared...along with his constant catching of colds, runny nose and his vagueness (to the point of completely ignoring you). His mum, my friend Lisa and hubby Pete rknow it was worth the effort....
