Biological changes related to ADD? | ADHD Information

I noticed my first gray hair (actually, it was stark white) when I was 23. I'm 26 now, and the top of my head usually has a few of those white hairs at any given time. LOL - I usually pluck them, though I've heard it's bad luck. Ha ha! Also, I colour my hair quite frequently, but I've noticed over the past year or two that when my roots start showing, the colour is definitely duller and dingier than the rich light golden brown I enjoyed in my "youth". *sigh* Now it's more of a dull, mousey brown. BTW, my sister, who I strongly suspect has ADD as well, started getting those white hairs when she was about 16 or 17.

With regards to aches and pains - I've got them to spare! I experience pain in the joints of my fingers from time to time, as well as in my knees. My knees pop each time I crouch or bend down. I was also diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease when I was 21 (hereditary - thanks Mom), so I get frequent back pain. I also experience bouts of sciatica as a result. On top of all that, I get weird random pains that show up seemingly for no reason - I can be sitting perfectly still, minding my own business, and suddenly it will feel as though I've been kicked in the shin. I've experienced these weird pains for as long as I remember. They are "normal" to me so I've never bothered to ask about them.

Remember - I'm only 26!!! What will I be like by the time I'm 40? Or 50??
That is strange. I have stabbing pains in body parts for odd reasons too. No actual illness, no Hypothyroidism that I know of. (got tested in 2000) Like a sharp stabbing in an arm, leg or hand for no apparent reason. I haven't hurt myself or sat on it. It just starts hurting.I have had premature graying of the hair since I was 17. I also get sore body parts sometimes like I am elderly. Anyone else in this forum experiencing that? Is it related to lack of chemicals in the body that may also be related to ADD?

Very good post.  I was wondering the samething.  Recently (the last 2-3 years) I noticed, I started to have so "little" problems that I can't get rid off.  Kept going to doc but won't go away.  I have stuff like:

nail fungus, muscle aches, ezcema (skin itch) and fatigue.

they come and go come and go.

I had my first streak of grey hair at 13 (although I prefer calling it 'silver') across the front. In my 20s, I read in one of my employment files, "Hair: salt & pepper."   By my 30s, people thought I was streaking my hair (brunette & silver). People paid good money to streak their hair, I got it for free.    At 50 something, I'm entirely silver...and love it!

As for biological changes being related to AD/HD, I couldn't say. However, I began menopause at age 37. Was post-meno by age 47. Is it related? Dunno.

Hi All

I am 29, when I was 15-17 years old, I lost most of the hair on my head, with no baldness in the family.  (Unless Mummy was getting her goods from another store) Anyway, I have spent all of my life in the British Army, now I am out and shave less, I have a goatie, I have a grey streak running down my chin and up through my tash.

For a laugh, my brother asked me to grow my hair, which hasnt been any longer than a couple of milimetres since I was 16.  When I did, I noticed that the grey streak actually runs in a line, from my Adams apple, right over to the nape of my neck.  It is not so visible above my chin, but I know its there.

Sorry for the long post.

I started graying at 26, now at 43 I *must color it.  I'm completely menopausal at my age and I also have arthritis in some areas of my body.  I don't know if it's ADD related but I feel like I'm extremely young to have all these things that should be taking place years from now.

I get this also.  do you think it's related to ADD or do 'normal' people go through this as well?

i suffer from chroinc joint pain and have had for years never thought it could be from the ADHD. I also have the unexplained sharp pains in random places. I was very athletic growing up though so that could be most of my problems I was very hard on my joints
