ADHD child in my class | ADHD Information

That idea is probably the best- I just started meeting with the guidance
counselor weekly, to discuss different strategies for working with this boy
as well as other ADHD students (I have many students with this
classification). She gave me a book to read on it, with many practical
ideas. The trouble is implementing many different behavioral programs/
incentives, etc. with so many problematic children. Thanks, for the
support though.

I have an ADHD child in my first grade inclusion class who is out of
control. He was recently transferred from a regular ed class, but I don't
know why he wasn't put in a small, special class (self-contained). He can
sit for 2 minutes max at a time, spins in circles constantly across the
room. He cannot read at all and has the poorest impulse control I've
seen. He blurts out and has a severe anger problem, and requires our
para (who is assigned to a diff. student) to monitor him continually. His
mom, who speaks Spanish only, says he is Stratterra, but he says he does
not take it regularly. He is out of control----help, anyone?!?

I think it is so great that you care enough to look into the problem!! Hats off to you! You are a fantastic caring teacher!

It sounds like the Parents and school need to start a support group in which you, the parents, resource teacher and anyone else who is involved meet together and make a plan. You can put all the problems on the table and delegate where he gets the help he needs. It won't be just one meeting... this will be an on going thing.

This is what my sons school did for my son, and it is working!
