Have your son tried any other stimulants? Is there any way your doctor would consider Concerta, Adderall or Focalin? All kids react differently, and there's no predicting which stimulant will work for your child. It's a lot of trial and error.
The problem is he can't (won't even try1) to swallow pills and metadate can be sprinkled in food....and it is working beautifully during the dayMy son, 6, started Metadate 3 weeks ago (20mg) and the rebounds are horrible!! For about a half hour he swears, throws things, runs around, very hyper, trys to punch and scratch me and his sister. Any suggestions? Oh, and since he wont swallow it or eat anything if he knows it is in it, I put it in chocolate milk every morning and he drinks it unknowingly!! So, I can't really give it to him later in the morning (while he's at school or right before). Do the rebounds ever subside as you get used to the meds. He's great during the day, but I DREAD 7pm. HELP!!Oh, I forgot to mention...he is also on celexa for a mood disorder which he has been on for a year with great results....
