Focalin experience? | ADHD Information

My son is almost ten and he's been taking Focaliin for a long time.  It doesn't seem to last very long in his system, though.  It's like short-acting Ritalin.  He's had no side effects from it at all.  If your child is already behind after Kindergarten, it's going to catch up with him quickly.  None of us are happy that we have to medicate our children.  ALL of us who have gone the med route tried everything else first.  To be behind academically is doing your child a disservice if there's something that will help.  The early years where they learn reading, writing, speaking, etc. is a crucial time for them.

My son, Max, was diagnosed yesterday with ADHD which comes as no surprise   as I've had suspicions since he was 2 1/2 years old.  My concern is that our pediatrician wants to start him on Focalin in order to get a baseline and to see if it works before school starts in the fall.  I don't like the thought of medicating my child, but I realize he needs something to help him focus as he just finished kindergarten and is not where he should be academically.  Has anyone had experience with this medication?

Herd great. Strattera is what we are using on our little guy. He takes at bed time. It's not a stim either. I suggest use after ful stomach only. This prevents ill stomach. Cut out these as the make a difference in our sons behavior.

White sugar, white flour, preservatives, dyes, additives. Use natural home cleaniong products. Can't use antihistamines either. This is just makes him very hyper. When not on these no hyper.

Lookup 50 conditions that Mimic adhd, Coexisting conditions that can occur with adhd. This is just to educate yourself on this. Look in the book area it has good references also. Then decide. See a neuorologist for another opinion also. Adhd brains are different than normal brains. They are smaller, can on a scan can see the dysfunctional areas. I believe adhd is sometimes classified cause don't know. It is suppose to be only in 3-5 %. Doesn't seem that way to me.
