I have just found this site and I am shocked by the pain and suffering and sense of hopelesness I have found. I have treated many sufferers successfully easily and without drugs. The treatment is very successful. Hyperactivity in all its forms has a common series of trigger mechanisms. There are usually food, drug and so called soft drink triggers. There are sensativities but the over riding trigger is hyperventalitive breathing. All sufferers are chronic mouth breathers. Thats an innapropriate learned habit or response. It reduces the levels of carbon dioxide in the body below the danger level of 6% and as it nears 3% the body sends a distress signal to the brain which automatically responds by closing down the Neocortex and sends its gasses to the body to compensate. The brain is holographic which means any one part of the brain can fulfill al the primary functions of the entire brain in such an emergency. Continued mouth or hyperventalitive breathing will again reduce the carbon Dioxide levels resulting in a repeat performance resulting in the mid brain closing down and sending its gasses to compensate for the bodys defecit. Now only the Old Reptilian part of the brain is functioning and it works many times the speed of the other parts and now we have Hyperactivity. Soon it may be requested to help but it cannot close down. It has to keep the vital functions going so it responds by sending a distress call to the adrenalin glands who activate the "Fight or Flight" response and send a sudden flood of adrenalin through the body. This tightens up the bronchs to prevent any further carbon dioxide loss. Now breathing is difficult and empaired as the child gasps for air and the bronchs may further tighten and so we have a very distressing vicious circle. You can stop all this easily with Pneumodynamic breathing. Have the sufferer breathe in and out of a paper bag until the cricis is over. It soon will be as they are now breathing carbon dioxide back in. The simplistic notion that carbon dioxide is a waste gass is simply not true. We cannot live without it. When the cricis is over teach the sufferer -relentlessly - to breathe both in and out through their nose only. This will prevent re accurances. There is a training process I teach sufferers to eliminate the problem completely. If you want further information contact me on ryantom@myway.com I hope I have been of help. Tom Ryan |
