The perfect dose! But now I’m pregnant! | ADHD Information
I was diagnosed with ADD nearly 20 yrs ago. Historically, for the most part, I was taking 30mg of dexidrine (XR) every am and another 15mg just after noon. About 3+ years (ago a year after having my 1st child) I noticed the effect was lessening and soon after I started taking 40mg (not positive about dose, 2 pink caps) of ADDERALL (XR) every am. I didn't note any change, to speak of.
Little by little, through out the last couple years I notice increase in loss of control with keeping on task; both, important things to accomplish, and not-so-important things. Organization in the house, paying bills, keeping up w/ appts., dishes, clothes...etc.... Either I was day-dreaming, or spontaniously finding somewhere to go. I was anxious and care free at the same time, and also showing signs of OCD.
So, as of nearly 3 weeks ago, my dose was increased by one more pink cap., and I feel like its perfect now. I'm finally functioning as I should, and catching up.
Here's my problem: I'm pregnant, just found out today. I would guess that I can't take ADDERALL while being pregnant, especially @ my dose. I can't afford to fall behind again. Is there a medication safe for me to take while pregnant?
Please help!

Hi craZgirlee,
Sorry, don't know about med safety and pregnancy, but I think your doc should have this information. Beyond that, I advise you to get help from anyone and everyone you can for nine months. Pregnancy is hard enough (not that I would know personally). Enlist the help of friends and family. It's silly the way women are expected to continue "business as usual" while pregnant these days.
