Where To Start? | ADHD Information

I have been diagnosed biploar which I knew from a family history.  Because of this I really have an awareness of the symptoms and cycles.

I am on Celexa and Seroqual which seems to be working.  I usually monitor myself when I start to go into manic phases (probably a reaction to having view family when they speed up.)  But I know I have ADD but prescribed adderal which after a few months sent me into a melt down.I

I am a high school teacher  and the organizational problems get to me.

I have no clue where to start at facing this on a very practical basis.  What has worked for others ?  I think I need to read a book but there are so many I don't know where to start.  Please help!

Hmmm...three posts, three teachers, three levels (I teach at tertiary level)...less face-time the higher the level means I've been able to develop more bad habits and my life's become a bigger mess than if I'd had to keep my records up to sec/prim standards like you two.  My life is really a mess and I hope the ADD-Coach audio/workbook course helps...the authors are fellow scatterbrains.  I'll let you guys know how its going once I got it.

single best book:  Daniel Amen's "Healing Add", see

(I just ordered this and am very optimistically keen on it)...if you decide to try this, we can compare notes...I too am a teacher.

I am a teacher too, elementary, but I know what you mean with the organizational issues.  It is hard.  You could get someone to help you out, like a family member to come and help you get organized and give you a few rules.  That helps me a lot.  Sometimes others can see simple solutions and I just can't see them.  You can also visit other classrooms and see what other teachers do to get themselves and their classrooms organized.  There are some great ideas out there if you just look around.  You can also look on line.

The medications - Adderall and Concerta help me.  I have also tried Focus Formula that I found in the GMC store in my area.  Each seem to wear off for me after a while.  So I switch around.

Good luck.  Kids need more teachers like us, so that the ADD students have someone to relate to!!
