Ritalin Question~HELP | ADHD Information

We started when she was almost 5, and she was on 5 mg at 8 and 11:30.  Didn't really change for a year then we went to 10 mg in the morning and 10 at noon.  It was about December 2003 when we stated the afternoon dose.  And since she grew sand gained so much in the pas t6 months we have gone from 25 mg per day to just this week 40.  She is still doing great, tonight she ate about 1/3 pound of meatloaf, 3 oranges and 3 cookies (in 2 hours).   It sounds like your little guy is on a different form than Tynisha.  She gets plain blue pills that are 10 mg each (break in half for the other 5).  She has never had a breathing problem.  If youwant pm me and I will send you my email and we can talk about this more.

Take care.....leanne

Thanks, when you put your daughter on the ritalin, at what dosage did you start and when do you increase it?? Is it by week, bi-weekly or monthly??? Like I said I tried to up his dosage to 7.5 and it seemed to stimulate him to much and cause him to have trouble breathing.  I don't know if it was bothering him and then he started to hyperventilate a little which caused more anxiety??? I am stumped.

Hi there I am new to all of this. My 7 (just turned) son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. He weighs 55lbs. He has started at 5mg of Ritalin in the morning an hour before school.  The problem is he is complaining about a stomach ache about 1/2 an hour after taking it.  By the time he gets to school he is feeling worse.  I have packed crackers and his teacher has allowed him to get them whenever he feels he needs them... Is this a common complaint??? I worry because when I have to increase it will the aches get worse.  I tried upping his dose to 7.5mg of Ritalin and I ended up having to pick him up at school because he was having trouble breathing and complianed of a sore throat.  So we have gone back to 5mg a day.  We want to increase at lunch time by another 2.5mg. My doctor really has been no help. It seems to be up to the parent to figure out proper dosage etc....ANY FEEDBACK would be greatly appreciated. Melissa

My daughter is on 40 mg of Ritalin a day and has never had those side effects.  She is eating, sleeping, and growing good.  But she had horrible results on concerta 18 mg.  If you want any other info, jsut ask
