thanks, the only problem is she does in every weekend. skipping both meds.
I think the more meaningful question, you should direct to her. "Why do you feel you don't want to take the meds on weekends?" She may have valid reasons of her own...a break from side effects...she likes herself when she is her self...the weekends are her time, no need to keep it together for work etc.
Or she personally observes no benifit (or perhaps a little benifit but terrible side effects) and so only really takes them for other peoples comfort. ( I think this may be partly true. If in her opinion the meds measurabley benifitted her in a real and pleasing way, she'd never miss a day.) Only she knows why so really listen to her about her feelings on this.
Then, if you have issues, you should express these to her. Such as this popular one...., you like some aspects of her more ON meds than OFF. ( hey, no guilt in admitting it.. my hubby and alot of my friends like some of the benifits of me ON meds more than off and so do I or I wouldn't have kept taking them) However, tread very carefully here... be fair, honest and above all, sensitive.
Perhaps you feel the effectiveness of the meds could be comprimised by several miny vacations. (it happens to some people occassionally regardless of the type of drug, BUT NOT every time, every drug or to the same degree.) Get informed by a few doctors about the topic before this chat...it may erase any concerns you have.
Over all, don't push her into medicating herself for your comfort or peace of mind. She will resent you for it even if she can understand or may even share some of your concerns. Just listen and really hear her... then tell her what you feel. She'll make the decision thats best for her, knowing that you support, love and respect her.
I just wanted to say, it's nice to have you here. Just by posting, you show you love her and that you truly want to understand.
Karen N38525.1617592593I have been on strattera (100mg) for 4 months and I take it every day. It is my understanding that the effects don't wear off very fast, i don't think it is like switch off/on. Maybe it is a bit of rush on Monday when she takes them helps set the tone for the week?thanks for the information and insight into how this affects others. never been able to talk with anyone about this. my wife is very secretive about her ADHD and will never let me join her on her doctor's visits. I understand her desire for privacy.
Will sit down with her and go over our concerns.
thanks again,
Paul
ummm shouldnt be too bad. i am on them both. sometimes i skip concerta when i wake up at noon but the only effect is i cant get sh*t done i usually just watch to tv to prevent my add self from causing any world choas. straterra is ok to skip once becuase it stays in your blood stream just be sure to have ur wife take it right when she remembers she forgot too.
peace out

Ouch! I'm uncomfortable with this tone.
Her behavior will be unnacceptable. Tell her that she must take all her medicine or you will divorce her immediately.
..but seriously, she'll probably just get a little vacation from the sometimes considerable side effects. She's unlikely to strip off her clothes and go running naked through public places to embarrass you.
So don't worry about it!
