ADHD and Fear

My Daughter has ADHD, she is 6yrs old. I have noticed in the past few months she has a fear of being in a room by her self and is not sleeping through the night. She wakes up with bad dreams. She has also started to talk to herself a lot, like she is playing with someone. When I ask her who she is talking to she will say myself. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

I also have a son whom is 6 yrs old who plays by himself with himself. He makes the noises that sounds like someone is talking with him but I think it's mostly because he enjoys just playing with himself and not having to worry about what other children are going to make him do when he plays. I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. Maybe she is used to playing by herself that that is what she is mostly comfortable with. About the bad dreams, maybe she has a side effect with the medicine she is currently using? But another thing to consider, (hopefully not) is the fact that maybe she might be seeing a shadow in her room and thinks that is a monster or something? Children have active imaginations. (I remember that well as a child.)

If this is something new (the not wanting to be in a room by herself), maybe you could review over what has changed lately.   It could be emotional.  Sometimes if children have suffered loses such as a parent or other caretaker, they are afraid of losing someone else.  Sometimes I think children with ADHD are more sensitive to things going on around them. So, look at the environmental changes to rule in or out what is going on.
