i am thinking of asking my son's dr to switch him from concerta 54 mg,to ritalin la, he was on reg. ritalin which worked well but it wore off really fast 1-2 hours,so he went on concerta 18,36,now 54. he is only 6 and weighs only 38 lbs.so if someone has went to ritlain la and had sucess or not sucesss, i'd like hear some info,i'm not sure what to do next. thanks

I took my daughter from Concerta to Ritilan LA and have no complaints. The Ritalin only last 8 to 9 hours where the Concerta worked 12 hours  for us. She also started eating better on the Ritalin. Hope this helps.

My 6 year was on 54mg Concerta for about a year when we noticed it wasn't as effective as it had been.  His appetite was always good.  He's 50 lbs.  But we decided to try Strattera which was a nightmare!  We then tried Ritalin LA which made him itch severely.  He would scratch and end up with welts all over his body, it was horrible.  After a total of about 8 weeks, we went back to the Concerta but at 36 mg.  He's been at the lower dose for 2 months now and it works better than 54mg did.  We do occasionally give him 2.5 or 5mg of Ritalin as a boost as needed.  We started to use concerta but found some behaviour continued as before as it is quite expensive we found changing easy. Now we are on ritalin LA  plus a short acting dose of generic Attenta . Life has little drama.
