Although my 14 year old son is not an adult, we recently had him tested for Aspergers. He fits the social criteria perfectly: socially inmature, unable to keep friends, doesn't understand at all the social cues, expects others to compromise with their needs but doesn't seem to be able to do it himself.
Other criteria, he had some of, but not as much. Well, he isn't Aspergers. His ADHD has realy kicked in with the social aspect . We are working on getting social skills training for him next school year.
I'm sorry if this doesn't help.

Hi. Is there anyone else who's living with asperger's syndrome themselves? Just last week I had an ADHD adult patient who had been diagnosed with Asperger's. I couldn't tell if he was just socially immature or what though. He seemed to have adequate people skills. He didn't strike me as not liking people or being qualitatively strange or weird. Asperger's is a popular diagnosis lately, and there aren't any specific psychiatric treatments (medicines) for it.[QUOTE=ADHDMD]Just last week I had an ADHD adult patient who had been diagnosed with Asperger's. How would you compare it to either "social intelligence" or "emotional intelligence?" IOW, what do you mean when you use the expression "socially immature" in relation to those two constructs? (Method in my motivation for asking: Getting ready to start a paper on EI). Appreciate any pointers you can provide, including your personal opinion. (At this point I'm leaning toward the concept having potential but having been bastardized by Goleman having made too much money on it and tainting it with the anti-academic/scientific brush of commercialization.)
