Weight Gain with meds | ADHD Information
Risperdal is well known for weight gain, drooling is also possible.my son was on risperdal for 3 months and i we took him off of it. not only did he gain weigh but it caused him to drool really bad... he is on abilify now ... No he was on abilfy last summer and then is when he first started to gain weight, but it really didn't help him at all. He is 9 1/2 and was in a size 8 in September, he is now wearing a pretty tight 14 husky and he just looks like he is so bloated and hard looking, he is gaining weight everywhere , his stomach and chest are huge for a little boy. Most of his eating was done in the middle of the night from the risperdal. but the doc did say, it could make him ravenous. I am hoping that now that we stopped it, some of it will come off. He is leaving for summer camp for 2 weeks on July 10 and now does not want to go because he is afraid everyone will make fun of him because he has (man boobs)..right now I have him on concerta and wellbutrin, with clonadine at night, I am hoping to cut out the night time eating and maybe he will drop it, Did your son start to drop the weight after you stopped the risperdal.
I just took my son off risperdal and started him back on concerta 54 with wellbutrin 150. Was just wondering if anyones child has gained a ton of weight on the risperdal and if they stopped it did they drop the weight fairly quick. My 9 year old has gained over 30 pounds in the 3 months he was on it. Which is now causing him more anxiety over being fat and getting made fun of.The doc said it was to bid of a gain in such a sort period of time. Also does anyone know much about Wellbutrin, I haven't found to much on it about the weight. Thanks again for all your help.
