Strattera - loo laid back??? | ADHD Information

I definitely know what you mean.  My daughter is 16 and adhd and last year on concerta, she lost her aggresiveness with softball.  But the concerta just like quit working about 6 months ago and we have had major major problems, now she is on strattera and only on 60mg per day and we have our happy girl back and as of softball lately she seems to be doing very well.  A little more hyper than I would like but I do like my happy girl back.  Maybe you should see about a little lower dose of the strattera.  Or, maybe he needs to get used to it and then he will gain is dive for the ball attitude again later.  Or, maybe with age he is losing some of the dive for the ball attitude.  We just don't know and unfortunately this all seems to be just trial and error.  What works for some doesn't for others.  For me I would try the lower dose.  Good luck and I will say a prayer for you and him.

Thanks so much for your input.   I am going to talk to him about lowering it,  especially since school will soon be out,  and see what happens.   I got some input also from an adult on the adult forum,   I  sure am glad I came here.   And we'll take your prayer,   and say one for you in return.

Maybe I don't get it.  Isn't part of what ADHD medications are supposed to do is decrease aggressive behavior?  My son is only 8 but his meds have given him a much better focus in gymnastics.  Although he is ADHD he isn't now and wasn't before meds interested in aggressive sports.  I guess I just can't relate because if my son was aggressive I would want that to change.

OK,  maybe I should have explained better.  He plays baseball,  not considered an 'aggressive' sport,   but he doesn't seem as driven when he is on the field.   He doesn't appear to charge ground balls in the infield,  attack the ball while batting,  etc,  which he used to do before the strattera.

Physical aggressiveness (towards others) was never a problem for him to begin with,  though he is easier to get along with now and more pleasant too.  It's just the baseball thing that has us stumped...he is good enough to play in college,  but if he continues to stay laid back on the field it is going to hurt him.   Just hoping to find someone else who has dealt with this that might have some input to help him.

Hi...new here.   My son,  18yo,  has been on Strattera for 6 months.   It has helped him in many ways...school,   socially,   etc.   The only negative I have noticed is he seems to have lost his aggressiveness in sports.   Just not as driven as he used to be.   Anyone experienced this...and any suggestions for helping him regain his spunk???

Thanks

OOOPs...that is supposed to say TOO laid back...can't type tonight
