Living below your means | ADHD Information

Throughout my life I never realized my lack of money was due to the ADD symptoms. Inability to keep track of finances mostly with regards to breakfast & lunch.

Being trapped into high rent in the same apartment for the last 7 years (and credit so bad finding another is unlikely), I am living literally paycheck to paycheck plus payday advances every month.

My boyfriend finally found a job which means more money, but we both lack a car right now so his getting to work will require him to take a taxi on certain days.

So today's slap in the face occurs..I had bought my boyfriend a gift card to Red Lobster last Christmas, and we haven't used it because we can't get to the restaurant. On Fridays at work we get 1 hour lunch and everyone rides to together and has a nice meal somewhere. One girl said they were all going to red Loster. Great I thought and brought the gift card along. This morning she says everyone else changed their mind. I gave all my last cash left to my boyfriend for the taxi (who knows what we will do for meals). I have 2 ramen noodles left in my desk & I am about to scream really loud and run through the corridors. Guess I am staying here at the office to eat whats left in my desk.

I am not asking for handouts but I really can't believe people do not care about the welfare of others. On many occasions I would walk in the searing heat to the train station (and missing the train as well to sit another hour waiting on next one) because no one could bother to waste 5 extra minutes to drive me there (its on the way they turn to get on the highway. It's not off the path)

At least 75-80% of my problems are caused by ADD, & lack of controlling certain symptoms. Is it just me or do we get crapped on more than the average person? And why is our disability considered a laziness disease & gets no respect whatsoever?

I believe haveing enough for a lot of us all is not un common. Wife herd a census based on income is based on type of education you have. The more educated you are the higher the money you can make. The real issue that people making under 100,000. have harder times getting by. Those people could live in a cheaper place and feel that is the priority. We feel you and your kids health and happiness is the #1 priority. The high cost of living is a problem for us all. We say lower costs rather than higher interest rates and morgage terms. Mil says this is just a way to decrease the population is really what things in the USA are about. Population controll. This is we are against how the USA is run today. We only see Dr.'s for absolute necessities. We seek alternatives like my wife with. Brent38527.3879398148

I have stopped relying on others for the most part. And most of my reasons are not dissimilar to yours. In all actuality, no one in life can ever really rely on anyone but himself or herself, so I do the very best that I can to organize my days around the resources that I have the most control over.

It gets no respect because people don't know anything about it.  And they won't read up on it.

I know because up until a few weeks ago when I started researching for myself - I didn't know anything about it.  And if someone had said "I have Adult ADD" I know what I would have been thinking about that person...  Sad but true.  Now that I've been researching, I'm so much more understanding about everything.

That's why I won't be announcing it to everyone at work when I get my diagnosis.  I'll probably just be telling my boss and certain close co-workers that I know that I can share information with in what they can watch more and how they can help me if they so choose.

It's funny because people are more understanding of OCD than they are of AD/HD.  I noticed that in a conversation last night.  OCD has become more mainstream and understood.  When Adult AD/HD gets to that point, we'll get more respect and understanding.  I don't know how long that will take.
