ADHD means Adults doing Harmfull damage | ADHD Information

Hey Reizende,

You are in Accounting? AGGGHHH!!!

I was a professional musician and amateur actor, but ended up going back to night school to get a degree in Accounting (nice stable responsible profession). Although I liked the coursework, actually doing the job was horrible for me. But in the course of doing it, I did learn a good bit of computer skills. I eventually found a job with an accounting software company demonstrating the accounting software. So I was more or less back on stage.

Although not engaged in my first love, I was able to take my accounting training and use it in a job that was a better fit for my natural skills (I was really bad atthe repetitive detail work my accounting job demanded).

Just a thought.
I like this topic, it rambles and where some people would say WTF is this about,  I think I understand it, its great!

If anyone is offended, they should tell the person forcing them to read this to stop.

I came from a house that was ALL ADD, mom, stepdad(s), and me.  I had no pressure except to go to college and get a degree in somethin.  But guess what?  I went 2 years, self taught myself graphic design and now make fairly decent money doing something that I enjoy!  There is your look into my early home life.  Now my poor wife has to deal with me, my son, and my daughter who are all wound tight.
I definately agree with that theory, always have thought that way. the smarter you are the less happy you are. Ignorance is bliss after all Phew!  For just a second, when I read the title, I thought Kandy had started on the adults.  (If you read the parents of ADHD, you know what I'm talking about!)

Anyway, I have yet to find a career/goal/lifestyle I'm happy with.  My aunt always said I'm too smart to be happy - always knowing there is "more" out there.  I'm truly questioning this theory lately...  I recently received a message from a person saying that this topic may
cause harm to certain people. The person mentioned that I am adding
to an already difficult part of their lives. I then noticed that I had difficulty
getting into this site. Are they related, I hoped not and sent a message to
the administrator of this site. I feel that if a subject does not interest you
do not look. Or like the many who did visit this topic and did not
respond, they exercised their right. This topic, yes did have some humor
to it, but come on. Think about it, I just looked at the letters and
exercised my creative side and questioned what we are being told
and made to believe.
I truly believe if you don't question things their may be major problems.
Think about it and just laugh a little.
Here is a true story.
My grandmother recently had her leg amputated due to diabetes.
My aunt and I were visiting her in the hospital and she was sitting
a certain way that was causing some discomfort. My aunt told her
to adjust her leg. She respnded "which one" and started to
laugh and made us laugh and we knew that she was going to be okay.
She had just lost her leg and still had her sense of humour.
Here is a woman who was a tap dancer in her prime, lost her husband
very young and
one son in a car accident and now at 70 years of age
has to learn to walk again and deal with it. She is, and still laughing.
If it is offensive to someone then they should move on to a different topic. This site is here for everyone not just the overly sensitive few who feel they need to police it. Talk about whatever you want there is always someone on this board that can relate no matter how unpopular the topic may be.

Ok Curiousity is killing me though I've looked over this toic a few times can someone please point out what is supposed to be offensive here.  Sorry but I'm obviously missing it. It is funny how many of us love art. Now the fact that I draw
in math or english does that mean that I am ADHD.
But what happened to me when I went to art school
and did not perform as well as the others. I saw one
student excel and it stopped me in my tracks. Just wanting
to be able to finish a painting is now my problem.

I would truly like to look into ADHD home life.
From birth to when we begin to become or own.
Is it that our parents (and I must emphasize that some of our parents
did not know any better. My parents came from Italy where all
they knew was: your born, you go to school until you
can work. That was usually around 10 to 12 years of age)
Then they came here got married and had kids and
all they cared about was that you were clean quiet
and didn't fail at school or made trouble.(For my dad
it was don't tell mom that the lady from across the
street came over for an hour) And for some
reason they thought that every Italian kid should be a
doctor or lawyer okay maybe a dentist. An artist, yah
okay. "I will give your a paint brush, here, paint the wall".
Now I am not saying every parent was like this.
I actually went to an art school, but my dad didn't know that.My parents
are from a generation that didn't
know it wasnt safe to throw your baby in the air and
because you laughed they did it more. They did not know that
they could be killing you. Now we have parents who will
just take what the teacher says and give their kids drugs
and lable them. How about taking the child and seeing what
they like. Do you drive a sports car 100 miles an hour around the
corner. No. You test drive and slowly learn how the car handles
the road. Oh yah I forgot we are a society that if it doesn't work
just buy a new one or give it a new paint job. Don't bother
looking under the hood. Oil what oil.

SO where was II was just wondering if ADD and ADHD should really mean:
Adults Doing Harmfull Damage
I do not mean us, I mean those who say something is wrong with us.
Like our parents and teachers forcing us to b a certain way in school.
To have certain jobs that don't interest us. See topic is ADHD an
industrial Era problem.
I truly wonder if their is something wrong with us.
Or is it just another way to keep us drugged and still unhappy.
Just a discussion.
lost at 4038527.3940740741Had the same experience as you Riezende. I wanted to go to art school, but wasnt allowed because I had to prepare for a "real career." I wish I had understood that I could have gotten loans and gone off on my own, but at 17 years old I didnt understand that I could.I grew up wanting to be an artist. In fact I excelled in art. Somewhere along the line my parents forced me to learn "real career training". Now I am making sub-standard wages in accounting, and I hate the monotony. It drives me absoultely batty. I bet my art could have made me thousands in a few months, but now my passion for art seems to have fallen by the wayside..lost admidst the whole getting by thing...

With it being an 'industrial problem' - are we becoming the new "normal"?  Is our bodies trying to show everyone the HARM that our lifestyles is doing to not only all of us but also the planet?

Hmmmm....
