Ritalin vs Adderall | ADHD Information

One thing to remember when asking what drugs are best is that all these drugs effect different people in completely different ways. One gets cranky, one gets sleepy and another gets good relief from symptoms all from the same drug and dosage. You have to experiement to find out what works best for you. Aand it's wise to keep good journals and notes on your experiments. I used Ritalin for more than a year in the past and now taking Adderall XR.. the Adderall XR is a FANTASTIC pill compared to the Ritalin.

1) It works MUCH better for me (apart from anxiety attacks that i get about three times per week, but i had those on Ritalin as well)
2) Time release, so i just take one pill, not a number of pills over the day (which i am VERY bad at)
3) The side-effects were not as pronounced for me as with the Ritalin and where they stayed around with the Ritalin for that whole year, they only lasted a week or so with Adderall XR.




PS: don't give pills to people who haven't had them prescribed by a doctor please, if something bad would happen to the person you give it to, you are VERY liable!
Hemmie38528.4000231481It really depends on you. I despise adderall, and even worse it doesn't help me at all. Plain old-fashioned ritalin (not concerta which makes me sleep all day) is the only thing that helps me. However, Adderall is the "better" drug so you should at least try it.

For real she'd turn you over like a used kleenex if she ending up the hospital. From that point on they wouldn't give you any more add medication.

I was taking ritalin which made me vomit and sick to my stomach, it was so bad (ie I kept vomiting on the way to my car) I went to the doctor to talk about switching meds. My normal doc was out so this new one gave me Adderall XR....in the meantime waiting for my insurance to approve adderall, the vomiting seems to have stoped.... so I'm not sure whether to stay with the ritalin, which works ok (the biggest thing seems to be it gets me out of bed early)...or give the adderall a try, but people seem to be having huge issues with it...I am also on 25 mg of Zoloft for anxiety/depression
