Support Groups??

Has anyone ever been to a support group for ADD/HD, Autism, Aspergers, BI-Polar? If so did you like it, did it help you? We went to a autism support group a long time ago when Colin was first diagnosed with the aspergers, i felt bad because here we were at this meeting and some parents had a hard time with their severe autistic kids, and mine is high functioning, and doesn't have all the problems that these kids have. So we stopped going, and there's nothing around our area anymore. I would love to find a support group but like you I find that others children are more severe cases and I feel like WTH am I whining about?

I do not even know if there are any near me.  I have contacted CHADD but nothing  remotely close to me but one near by would be helpful.  My daughter sees a psychologist this week first time and I will ask him if there are any.

I think of this forum as a support group .I could use a support group! I consider myself very educated on the disorder, being an 18 year teacher, etc.... but unless you have a child with it....... no one truely understands what you are going through. Does anyone else experience "night-mare" mornings with their ADHD kids? I have 2 that are and when they get together in the mornings (before meds kick in) it is an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!!!!! Thanks for any input! Dawn

Have any of you thought about starting your own support group? I'm sure there's lots of parents out there thinking the same thing you are. LOL

Dawn~

Mornings are ugly in our house too.  As a fellow teacher, aren't you amazed at the REAL education you now have on ADHD... as a parent?  Just makes us better teachers!

we dont have anything like that here but i sure wish i copuld find someone to talk about this stuff here besides dr and therapist and hubby but no one
