Tom Cruise | ADHD Information

Share
i can't totally disagree.  we all know the FDA is a multi billion dollar industry, and that only happens if poeple remain on medications.  your doctor only makes money if you continue to see them, so they are going to give you as little info as possible to keep you coming back.

Cruise: But what happens, the antidepressant, all it does is mask the problem.  There's ways, [with] vitamins and through exercise and various things...  I'm not saying that that isn't real.  That's not what I'm saying.  That's an alteration of what I'm saying.  I'm saying that drugs aren't the answer, these drugs are very dangerous. They're mind-altering, antipsychotic drugs.  And there are ways of doing it without that so that we don't end up in a brave new world. The thing that I'm saying about Brooke is that there's misinformation, okay.  And she doesn't understand the history of psychiatry.  She doesn't understand in the same way that you don't understand it, Matt. I thought I heard some time back that  Tom Cruise has ADHD...

Have any of you been paying attention to this?  Tom Cruise has been all over the US media, supposed to be promoting the War of the Worlds film but has spent most of his time spouting off the Scientology screed about the evils of the psychiatric profession.  At the risk of offending any cult members out there, I am thoroughly pissed off at this high-school drop-out trying to promote his cult's obsession with drugs and the practice of psychology.  I was really eager to go see this movie this weekend but now I'm boycotting it.  I've seen far too many sufferers of mental disorders get help from prescription drugs and now this wee little man is out there telling the world that it's evil.  (insert string of profanity here).  Here's a link explaining Scientology's obsession with psychiatry:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2121391/

JerBer38530.795The guy is a gullible and brainless d*ckhead.. simple as that.. if we all ignore him, maybe he'll go away.

I agree that Cruise is arrogant and self opinionated. There IS such a thing as a chemical imbalance and I don't see any medical training in his record that supports his claim of knowing what he is talking about.

Bluebird, I agree that there are a lot of doctors  (not just psychiatrists) out there who are also arrogant, rude, and talk down to "lesser mortals" like those of us with no medical training. This is something I used to tolerate. Now I am older and wiser and I won't put up with  being spoken to like an idiot by a doctor who is supposed to be helping me. I only hire......yes hire is the right word......doctors who treat me with respect, don't keep me waiting for hours because they want to make sure they're fully booked, and keep me informed. I would encourage anyone else to speak up if they feel like their doc is not respectful of a patient's time and intelligence.

Tom Cruise's opinion matters less to me than every person who posted above this note, and every person who posts below.
How about you?
I think there is something wrong with Cruse. He has an odd public "energy" about him, IMO. I have said to my friends for a long tme that he is one of the "sexy" actors that I would probably turn down for a date.

I try to keep an open mind when I hear statements like he made ("Ritalin is a street drug")--maybe he's right? But, it has a ring of arrogant, opinionated, shock-jock stuff that I have experienced from other over-the-top, diagnosed ADHD men I have known.

I know that sounds sexist, but I have so far only met men that go way overboard and start saying things like, "I hate stupid people" other things to indicate that they truly believe themselves to be smarter than everyone (serial killers are known for this). I'm sure there are ADHD women who do it too, but I can't remember anyone in particular at the moment.

I will agree with him to this extent, I have had one hell of a time finding a decent psychiatrist. I mean to tell you....is it just me or have I met more than my share of arrogant, anal, types that don't really listen, or they have really strange issues of their own that they reveal while you're in thier office and vulnerable to them.

It's almost cliche that, in my experience, many of them really don't seem to understand that just because we don't have a degree and that we are having brain or emotional issues that we are not stupid or incapable of participating in the diagnosis/treatment process. I'm back on the hunt for another one as I write.
LOL Money would certainly make me happier

Opinions are just that....

I work at a Grocery store and was talking to a fellow employee today about how sad it is with the amount of rags stacked at each register that perpetuate how great celebrities lives are.  People's need for stimulation vicariously is sad.  ADD is a crux.....what about tabloid, soap opera, gossip rag addicts, that is an undisclosed affliction as of yet!

Brad is banging Angelina....good for Brad, er, Angelina, depending on the sex you ask.

As for Scientology pertaining to Tom and (the precious) Katie.  I ask, what do you people know of the subject?  I think there are portions of the "tech" that are phenomonal.  I also find large portions unpalatable, but won't blindly critisize it.  Anyone, who will blindly attempt to villify the entry level tech, should be ready to vilify many other religious practices...namely, Catholic confession booths.

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION............Demonizing Scientology without subjective reality on it is no different than people who think ADD is a cop-out!  Although, I am a firm believer the "Church Of Scientolgy" is a fascist organization corrupting the good the "tech" could do for people!

I am pissed that Katie won't be calling me anytime soon, though!

Later all!
