going on vacation how soon will they fill | ADHD Information

Please let us know what you finally do to get it worked out.  It might help some of us at a later time!Iriffs, I  have run into this problem more than once.  And found a solution the first time that was scary.  IF your beach house is in a different state, even if you have a script from your home state, it cannot be filled by a pharmacist there.  The first time this happened, I had to find a pediatrician (of course, she didn't know us) and show her the script (the one they wouldn't fill) and she copied it on her script pad and sent me on to get it filled!  Now THAT was hard to do.  I could just envision the rest of our vacation with son unmedicated!  It could be a real problem for you, so call your doctor and ask what to do AND call your insurance company.  This is a real, real problem for those of us who have children on amphedimines.i have learned my self call dr and get script then either goto different pharm to fill or have the dr office call and tell your reg pharm it is ok to fill it early
Get to work on calling as soon as possible, last year i left for fl. for 10 days and my sons Dr. gave me a new prescription to have filled. So i brought it to the pharmacy and the pharmacist goes i can't fill this the time isn't up on the other prescription. I explained he only had two pills left and we were leaving in two days. It was a big headache And i  ended up having to take half a prescription, and paying for it out of my pocket. Then when i got back, i was supposed to be reimbursed and get the rest of the pills. The same guy goes i can't fill this, you need a whole new prescription. Ugh i was so mad, and the people at this place are so mean. Good luck!With it being a controlled substance I would VISIT my doctor's office and explain situation. I am sure they have an answer in person and have run into this before. you can always get it filled if you want to pay cash.  But if you are depending on your insurance to fill it,...my insurance gives me a 5 five day  before script is due.bump

One strategy that we've used is to get an extra two week supply from the doctor in the form of samples.  If you call your doctor and explain your situation, I bet he'll let you come by and pickup a enough samples to get you by till your prescription is valid.    The doctor get's these samples for free and often they expire date-wise before the doctor can give them out, so they are generally pretty generous especially if there is a need both logistically or financially.
