Prozac and Strattera | ADHD Information
Hi all
I posted this on another board, I should have posted here, so sorry if you have
seen this twice. Does anyone have their child on Prozac AND Strattera. I would
like to know your experience and thoughts. It was suggested for my now 5 year
old Son diagnosed ADHD/ODD.
Thanks

I'm not expert by any means but from what I have heard depending on the type of
ADHD your son has Strattera may not be good. My Son has type 3 ADHD ( based on Dr
Amen's research.) Anyway this description fit my son perfectly, these are his dominant symptoms:
ADHD-Over-Focused Type
(3):
Symptoms of trouble shifting
attention, difficulty with transitions, worrying, argumentative
behavior
And on Strattera, over time, they seem to just get worse, he
seemed to have an extremely difficult time dealing with frustration. He gets
stuck in negative thoughts like if he gets teased at school thats all he can
think about the rest of the day. Anyway his doctor is recommending prozac
because his symptoms are so much like obsessive compulsive disorder, obsessive
worrying, stuck in negative thought, argumentative to no end. But he doesn't
qualify as OCD, no compulsive behaviors and other reasons.he also has all the other ADHD symptoms. Anyway we are going
to try Prozac instead but he hasn't started it yet. I would check into a second
opinion. Straterra was really made more for adults anyway. But don't take my word for it ask a Pro.
