crushed adderall | ADHD Information

Hi Gypsywoman,

I made out real well at the Doctors..............He upped me to 20mg a day xr from 10mg xr daily............He wants me to take it all in the early am........He was pleased that I seem to tolerate it very well..My appetite has improved.......I wasn't eating very well when I was on the Straterra........Since my blood work once showed a leaning towards anemia I need to eat well............. Is "upped" a word ??????????????????????????????

I'm going to try and not concern my self with medications and dosages...I tend to try to figure out what I need or should have to feel better.........That's really kind of silly................I'm the patient not the doctor............I liked your advice to just be honest with him and let him figure the rest out.......I think I"m going to start a journal to try and map out my hi's and low's, time of day, duration and anything else that seems relevant....That way I can have something to show the doctor.

My appointment today was at 1:15 and I never got in until 2:30........There was a woman in the waiting area really raising cane (or is that cain) about the hold-up.....I went in before her and told the doctor that I didn't know what he was giving her but he probably should increase her dose............He got a good laugh out of that........So did I!!!!!!!

I did tell the doc that I thought the adderall helped me some because a lot of my hyper-activity was channeled into meaningful projects such as long held off home repairs, yard work and other things.......However my "distractability" was still very evident............For example I could be working on something, need a tool, and then find myself on another completely different task.....What's puzzling to me is that I know I do this but I can't seem to get it straight....It's so frustrating sometimes.............I am so un-organized I spend much of my day looking for things that I've set somewhere just moments before.......Does that happen to you at all ????

I guess I've gone on long enough.I enjoy your post Gypsywoman...My guess would be you really have a good handle on this ADHD thing.........I like discussing these things with others and I think it is very helpful.....

So thanks again for your concern....I look forward to hearing from you so write anytime....

So you think I have a handle on AD/HD? I suppose I'm getting one, but that doesn't mean I can practice what I 'preach.' Although I have learned so very much from communicating with others on this board.

Did you ask your doctor about sprinkling the Adderall on applesauce?

I also want to ask you why you stopped taking Concerta. How long did you take it?   I started on it in February at 18mg and upped (yes, upped ) my dosages until I was up to 72mg. However, I'm now weaning myself off so doctor and I both can tell if it's working (I thought it was helping, then it didn't seem to be any longer). If I do feel a difference not on Concerta, then I guess it must have been working.

I would like to try Ritilan (State won't pay for Adderall .. on Medicaid). So if I think Concerta was doing Nada, then hopefully my doctor will put me on Ritilan. I'm also on 60-80mg of Paxil. The Paxil, along with a mood stabilizer (Carbatrol) seem to do wonders for me...and I've been working hard on using skills and tools to help me cope. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my 50s, so just finding out the why's has been the most helpful of all!

Do I jump from one thing (project) to another? Oh yeah, but only provided I even start anything to begin with.    I still have difficulty with motivation and focusing. I truly miss reading books, but just can't concentrate enough. Yet can on this board, weird, huh?

John, keep me posted on how you do on the 20mg of Adderall, k? I suppose if it ends up a little too much for ya...intense...doc may have you try 10mg 2x day. John, how did you're doctor's appointment go today?
John, how did you're doctor's appointment go today?
That's cool, John.    Just thought you may have gotten distracted...not that us ADHDers ever do that! Good luck today. Hey, John....where's your reply post above...you just quoted me, but didn't type a reply? Were you interrupted or something?

Hi Gypsywoman

I go to the doctor at 1:15 today.Thank you for checking back with me..........I'll let you know as soon as I get back............Sorry about that empty reply......I'm still trying to figure out computers..............I'm getting better though

john

Thank you all for the great response's i"ve gotten on this site........the info on here is invaluable...............I learn much more here than I could ever learn  from my doctor although I like him very much.

My question this time is would it be possible to mimic the effects of a "straight up" adderall with an XR by crushing the contents before taking.........I have just started on adderall 10mg XR and I read many people say straight up adderall is much better............Since 10mg is a very low dose and I only take one a day would it be a problem trying that just to see..............I have been on adderall for 30 days..

     Thanx......................john

isn't this a question for the underground drug boards like nu blue light? This is a reall ADD board for peope with real problems.John, Adderall XR capsules can be taken whole, or the contents can be sprinkled on applesauce. The applesauce should be eaten immediately, without chewing. Be sure to use the entire contents of the capsule. However, I don't know if this will increase the effect.

From reading your other posts, I see that you are quite sincere in your seeking help with your AD/HD. I also read in another of your posts that you'll be seeing your doctor today...and that Adderall has been helping you, better than Strattera, etc. has. I suggest this is a question you may want to ask him today. If your doctor thinks you should increase your dosage at this time, I'm sure he'll let you know. Just be honest in how it has been helping you, or not.

Good luck, John. Keep us posted how your appointment goes.
