ADHD is it over diagnosised at times? | ADHD Information

Do you ever think that ADD/ADHD is being way too diagnosised in this country? I mean, we have it because of the true reasons or true descriptions right, but don't you think people could be misdiagnosised or paranoided to think that they have it badly sometimes like any other mental illness?  Kinda hard to say, since I dont know the diagnosis rates. The media doesnt provide an accurate reflection of these numbers.

I dont mean this from an anarchistic or political point of view at all, but if you create a society that requires conformity to order and passivity then there are going to be certain genetic types which will be considered an abnormality. The more narrow the definition of normal becomes, the more 'illness' will be found.

There are many records of various societal groups who have which, to an outside observers standards, display large incidences of mental illness, or physical deformity (height, weight, limb size ratios). Reminds me of the twighlight zone where the beautiful woman lives in a world where everyone is uniformly disfigured and she is considered ugly and a creature to be pitied.
I have read that some drs believe AD/HD is both overdiagnosed and underdiagnosed at the same time. The overdiagnosing typically happens with young boys - they get bad grades and act up in class and automatically get labelled with ADHD. It's almost become a fad term during the last ten years or so.

Underdiagnosing mostly happens with females - both children and adults. Most females don't have the hyperactive symptoms and therefore get easily overlooked.
