Hello everyone! I just discovered this place yesterday and have been lurking ever since.
I'm 28 years old, married, no children (except for cats & dogs). I was recently diagnosed with ADD and I take Ritalin.
I would have never thought I had ADD until my doctor diagnosed me. I've read Driven to Distraction and I'm currently reading Delivered from Distraction. Both are great books and I can most definitely see myself in them.
I've enjoyed reading the old posts....I've finally found some people like me!
I too was just diagnosed. I am 31 and a married mother of two boys. I was prescribed Ritalin as well and I will be taking 10 mg. in the morning and afternoon. I hope it helps as I am going back to Nursing school. This time to complete. Has the Ritalin been working for you? I hope so. I'm will get mine Monday as the Dr. was on vacation. Welcome by the way.
Yes, the Ritalin has been working for me. I currently take 5mg 3x daily, however I go back to the dr next week and I'm going to ask him about increasing the dosage to 10mg...the 5mg doesn't last long enough to get me between doses.
Good luck in nursing school. I hope that you also achieve results with the Ritalin. Feel free to PM me any time.
i liked the ritalin when i was younger but i was on the SR helped with my mood swings that i got on the short but then as i go older ritalin seemed too strong and made me very mean and angry. now im on adderall 30mg xr time2 prolly gonna go up to 80 mg daily but no mood swingsand really

I'm a single 38 yr old guy , no kids (want em just can't have 'em!) who was diagnosed with severe ADHD 8 months ago.
I was scared of pretty much anything outside my door, getting ready to be fired from job number jillion and one.
My last uncle passed away and it shook me up enough to examine myself and GET HELP!
My MD got me an excellent psych who found out my ADHD and got me on dexedrine.
Now I'm all over the place. I help get kittens out of trees (not really) and escort old people in and out of stores (THAT's true!). Things I'd never have done are interesting to me. I want to go out and do my best.
My job is now safe. I got my first job assessment where it was excellent and I got a handshake from my boss!!! May not sound exciting but it Was!!!
Life gets better. I was ready to end up like my uncles and find a rock to crawl under until death. Now I want to get out and join life.
Hope it's the same for you soon!
