I'm confused, what is hypersexuality?

could you describe it a bit better?

I was not aware that is could be a bipolar symptom.  Subsequent to this post, I read that hypersexuality could be an ADD trait too. I am sure they are all connected in some way.

hypersexuality is an ADD symptom too.

My meds dont seem to do much for it.

Generally being pissed off at the world seems to work well tho.
Hyper sexuality is one of the symptoms of bipolar. Have you spoken with your pdoc about this? Oh well, the meds fix that for me.....

Never knew it was a "symptom"

hmmm 15 times, I wonder what my record is.... I never really kept track.....

....interesting....

Wow! 15 times a day or even 5 times a day! where would there be time to do anything? never mind posting on here!

As to sexuality and ADHD! well when i went on meds it made me more aware of my sexual urges, as it made me more aware of other things about myself and my surroundings. It needed me to refocus my reactions and responses. I did not allow it to overwhelm me. I had to work harder initially to manage my sexuality. I am lucky i know! but each of us has an answer inside ourselves to our own situation. I like everyone else enjoy the feelings around this aspect of myself but I keep my focus on doing things that are Asexual. It works for me. Find an activity that u enjoy, a positive one, and give it time each day, an hour or whatever time U can afford out of your other daily routine chores. The pleasure it will bring will help with any challange overheated sexual feelings maybe causing u. If this does not work, shinsetu_hito's hint about getting help outside urself is a reasonable, sensible and logical solution.

Aww,  those poor, 15x daily adhd/hypersexual folks would never have time to post!
Can one become sexually compulsive from ADD? And can medication help with it?

Compulsions - especially ones that give us adrenalin (norepinephrine) go hand-in-hand with ADHD.  OCD is often part of ADHD - and that includes a compulsion to take part in risky behavior.

If you talk to your psychiatrist - preferably the one who referred you to your meds - about your compulsion there are therapies and separate meds for sex addiction.

I used to have the urge to engage in internet porn watching and cyber sex.  The dexedrine initially gave me a total loss in sexual desire and ability.  At first I was concerned but soon the ability came back and not the compulsion.  It could have been different as I've heard the same question about the addiction before many times now on other forums.

Good help is out there.  A combination of meds and therapy can help you cope with the desires - and focus your energy to more productive and less dangerous activities.  I hope you seek out such help.  In this day and age it can be very risky to act out the urge to have multiple partners, especially if you get pleasure from making it dangerous (i.e. no protection?).

I wish all with this compulsion good luck.  I only touched the surface of that one and it could have been far worse for me as well.

Bipolar and ADD share some of the same symptoms. Often some of the same drugs are used to treat both.  Sometimes they are mis-diagnosed resulting in years of unecessary suffering. If you have bipolar and are only being treated for ADD you'll need to talk to your pdoc. How do you know if you're bipolar? It's best to have a very heart to heart (be honest about ALL your symptoms, including hypersexually) with your pdoc.
