Pot and Adderal-Does it work | ADHD Information

That sounds bogus to me tamucc. And if medical studies have proven it why listen to us, were just some ragged ass internet users :-)

Plus adderall doesn't produce eating or sleeping disorders. But I don't see the point of using a drug to make your brain sharp and crisp and then get stoned, do you?

Hi,
this is coming from a non-pot-smoker (personally I
hate the effects, though I think the plants are pretty
and that as a medicine it needs much more serious
research).
But, for what its worth:
regarding hunger and sleeping, in Canada pot is
allowed to treat these problems - particularly the
lack of appetite - in people who have MS or AIDS
(cancer as well? there are a few others but I forget
them). There are "compassion clubs" set up in an
attempt to supply the herb to the patients who need
it, although I don't think they are as widespread as
they need to be so many people have to get their pot
from other sources. But once they have it they are
allowed it legally.
One cool development is a spray with the medically
active components of marijuana in it, designed
initially for patients with MS. I think it has been
approved for use in Canada. I don't know if it would
be useful in AIDS or anything else, though.
As for using pot for ADHD, I can't find it helpful
personally, but people do react differently to different
types of medication. Alcohol is a depressant, for
example, but there are people who seem to
self-medicate with that. Non-stimulant drugs like pot
and alcohol might be useful not so much for
focussing (which they don't help with) but because of
their other effects, on your well-being or
outgoingness, for people who get these effects. I've
known a few people who do self-medicate with one
or both of these
I don't see that taking the two at the same time would
cause anything but trouble, though, since their
actions are so different, especially regarding
focussing. Maybe to get to sleep?
I agree with Chazinmo, you should talk to your doctor
if you are really interested in the effects, beneficial or
harmful. Ignoring the legal issues.

When I was younger I tried it a ccouple of times and it made me very sleepy and sick/hung over the next day. I have pretty severe ADD.

So no, I wouldnt say so for me, the thought of mixing it is just stupid - like i need more side effects.

Pot + ADD = homelessness.

It's like mixing blindness with deafness, or having your arms amputated in *addition* to your legs amputated.

I hear that pot is good mixed with clorox.

Yes I do have ADHD and have been diagnosed as such.  I am on adderall 30 mg xr right now.  Medical studies have proven that marajuana counteracts the eating disorder and sleeping disorder that accompanies adderall.  I was only curious.  There wasno need for hostility.  Tamucc, I did not intend to sound hostile. But when someone comes onto the forum asking about mixing up their own tailor-made prescription, I assume the worst.

If Adderall is decreasing your appetite, making you lose sleep, and causing you irritableness and depression, then perhaps your dose is too high. Another possibility is that you may have bi-polar disorder. I read somewhere that stimulant meds for AD/HD can make the symptoms of BPD worse.

Your best bet is to talk to your doctor, rather than experiment with your own drug-based solutions.

Good luck.

I found a herbal sleep aid that works great.  My ADHD tends to keep my mind spinning at night and keeps me awake.  One pill of this and I generally drift off.  I would go to a GNC or something similar and ask what they have for sleep aids that would not interfere with prescription medication.

Increasing appetite?!  Sweet mother of god, be glad you have that problem.

I have heard all this controversy over pot and adderal.  I just need to know whether it works or not.  By "works"  I mean does it increase appetite, help with sleep, lower irratability, and sooth depression?  Any thoughts?

Sorry, I wouldn't know. This isn't a forum for discussing self-induced drug interactions.

Why do you "need to know"? Why are you here? Do you have ADHD?

If you have ADD, pot is one of the the last things you need.

Mixing it with a prescription drug is even worse.

If you live in the US, pot is illegal (prison is bad for ADD).

I have no big moral issue with pot (a drug is a drug). But buying an illegal drug of uncontrolled quality from a criminal and mixing it with prescription meds without your doctor's knowledge is asking for a lot of trouble.

If you are having trouble with Adderal (or any other prescription med), talk to your doctor about it. If you have trouble sleeping, there are meds that can help. But your doctor needs to prescribe them. You really should not mix and match on your own.

Ask your doctor if he/she recommends smoking pot along with your prescription meds. If you are afraid to ask, that should tell you something right there.

Just some friendly advice from someone who has caused a lot of unnecessary trouble for myself.

Good luck!
