Adderall side effects long term? | ADHD Information

Hi Danielle I do have hypothyroidism and I am in the process of getting my levels right so you were right on. I have always had a problem with meds making me tired!  Am I taking a high dose of Adderall?

So I should level out pretty soon then? I do notice that in the last 2 weeks I do get very hunger at night and I do eat! I also do eat a light lunch. I have never been a breakfast eater.

After being on the meds for awhile your appetite should even out.  One thing that will help with your appetite is to eat right before you take your meds, just becareful because a meal high in fat will effect your body's absorption of the Adderall.

My concern is how high your dosage is and still you're tired.  If you haven't already you should see a medical doctor to see if there isn't a reason for your tiredness (is that a word?) i.e. thyroid or anemia, etc.  If you have already or you do in the future, and your tests all come out negative drop me a pm--if you want, because I went through that and wouldn't mind talking with you about it.

I agree.  The first couple of weeks for me I had to remind myself that I MUST eat.  I went from around 220 lbs to 180 fairly quick.  I still ate but only what I absolutely needed to get along.

A few weeks later I found that the normal hunger pangs came back.  Then soon after that I found that some old cravings for tasty food came back also.  I'm leveled out around 200 - 210 and everything's pretty good.

One thing I noticed though is that now I tend to have intestinal cramps during the workday.  The doc said that's pretty common as dexedrine affects all smooth muscle tissue in the body - and that includes intestines/stomach.  I'm on zelnorm now and it helps most days.

I lost about 15 lbs over 2 months on Adderall, then slowly gained back about 5 lbs and my weight is stable. I was at a healthy weight when I started, and even minus the 15 I was still in a healthy range. I don't have much of an appetite while on Adderall, but when it wears off I'm ravenous, and I think I eat enough to make up for the times the meds are in effect.

I was diagnosed with adult add about 2 months ago My doc first tried Ritalin but it made me tired he increased my dose 3 times but I was still tired He has since put me on Adderall xr 30 mg twice a day. I have noticed all the common side effect dry mouth some insomnia BUT my biggest is loss of appetite. I have lost about 20 ponds in the 2 months. My question is will this go away after being on the meds awhile? I love the fact I am losing the weight but my clothes dont fit any more and I dont know if I should wait to buy some  for the fear I wont fit into them for long? My healthy weight is about 115 to 130 and I am 128 right now.

I also wanted to add I feel great on the Adderall still alittle tired but I see the doc in a few days but my memory is great! I have always thought there was something wrong but I had the same problem a lot of you had with people saying oh theres nothing wrong I have that same problem. I am 30 and finally went and made a doc appt. with out telling anyone.  I just wish I would of done it a lot sooner.

SO GLAD TO BE HERE FINALLY!
