Drop in effects (Concerta) | ADHD Information

Share

I was put on concerta for adult ADD about a month ago.

I went up incrementally as prescribed and hit 54mg about 2.5 weeks ago. At 54mg, I felt an effect, which was boost in mental energy, a bit more patience, and a more aligned thought pattern.

Then a week later I hit 72mg, and it was great, insomnia dimished a lot (no longer using sleeping pills), the patience of a normal person, my leg stopped shaking, well, almost.  Anyways, I got good benifits.

Then after being on 72mg for a week, my doc prescribed me the same amount for another week, so I didnt increase.  BAM, the effects are gone! Leg shake, anxiety, impatience, lack of mental energy, I dont know about insomnia yet, I got my appetite back.

Anyways, I dont know why this happened, I dont know if its to be expected.  Im seeing my doc this week, but I want to know if what Im going through is normal and if it means the drug wont work anymore or there is a solution.  My doc will probably deal with it, but, I feel like knowing now :p

Thanks!

2 weeks only?  so you're at 32mg?  Why are you expecting an effect there?

I didnt feel anything until 54mg, but my problem here is that after a week on 72mg, the effect went completely away :|

I have tried Concerta for a bout two weeks now and it seemed to help, but not a lot.  I have tried days with it and days without it.  Maybe my inconsistency is not good either, but it doesn't seem to be helping.  I just want to get off all drugs.  It's driving me nuts.

true that I need less sleep with concerta.. when it worked, but i still got my 8 hours, plus my insomnia faded (thus, more REAL sleep :p )

but I saw my doc today and he said it's probably because im underdosed and only felt an effect because we were consistently going up in dosage.

So..... we'll see when he boosts me to 92mg (but cant atm, classified :O )

Are you getting enough sleep and exercise?

I find that as long as I take care of my body I see pretty consistent effects
from Concerta but its easier for me to undersleep when I am taking
medication
