For Lali
Please help anyone. My precious grandson has ADHD. He's 8 years old and has already been held back in school one year because he can't learn to read. He's on a drug to control his hyperactivity during the school year but in the summer they take him off. You can really tell the difference. This child is so intelligent its unreal!!! He just has trouble sitting still, not touching things he should'nt, just generally very impulsive toward any negative activity. I can't help but feel there has to be some special education for the rapidly growing chunk of society of little souls that we're drugging through the years that their brains are learning to function on for life.
lali, try reading through some of the posts here.. also, there are a load of websites out there that have a lot of useful information.. can he read now?? have they checked him for any learning disabilities?? Look at Visual processing disorder also which is why some kids have reading trouble in school. The school should have Reading recovery programs. Dyslexia also should be checked out also. If any of these are found out see a Therapeutic eye Dr. for help also. I found are great help to the Parent. Find a developmental optometrist in your area to check him for a visual disorder. These optometrists are not regular eye doctors. A kid can have 20/20 vision and have a vision disorder that impairs his ability to read. A developmental optometrist will be the one who can find this. Hyperactivity is very, very common with kids who have vision disorders. A website that might be helpful and will give you a list of developmental optometrists in your area: http://www.children-special-needs.org/vision_therapy/what_is _vision_therapy.html |
