I would be interested in knowing what your opinion is on Dexedrine Spansules vs. Tabs...I'm going in to see my Psych. today to discuss meds, since I did well on Dex. before, I'm sure she'll prescribe that...
Thanks for your advice!

Awesome! Hopefully the 20mg will do the job - but know that when you do get to the right dose you'll know within a short while.
Happy you are getting the extra boost you need. If you find the doses too close or apart from each other know that I've taken them as close as 5 hours apart and as long apart as 8 and it is easily adjusted to.
Good luck!
Hi...
So she upped it to 20 in the a.m. and 20 at noon, and it's great. I do not feel jazzed up or anything like that. I just feel very even and chilled out (but not to the point of being lethargic.) It's weird. I feel better about taking the spansules because otherwise I may feel bad about pill popping every few hours.
Thanks, Glen! Thanks for the feedback. It's great that you've found something that works for you...I know a lot of people have to go through trial and error...
I started on the spansules yesterday, and honestly...felt no different than I normally do. It's strange to me, since I did take them before (but that was 8 years ago, so...who knows.) I'm going to see how today goes, and if it's as it was before, then perhaps I need a higher dose. Although I'm a petite woman, I have a hardy constitution and seem to be highly resistent to medication -- this runs in the family.
I'm in school right now (grad school) and it's killing me. I mean KILLING me. I know I can get my neuropsychologist to write me a letter for ADA, but I was trying not to go there...What are some of the changes that you've witnessed through medication (and therapy?? I was referred to an ADHD coach, so we'll see how that goes. I'm embarassed how chaotic my life is, and am afraid of feeling irresponsible and well...insane.
Was the IB due to the medication?
Thanks for your thoughts...

How many mg's does your doc have you on? I'm now on 30 and needed to get the doc to crank it up when I found the lack of effectiveness. Maybe if you're on 10 you need to ask to up it a bit? Just a thought.I haven't tried the tabs myself but I've used spasules from the beginning of treatment 8 months ago. I'm very pleased with them.
They last for me no longer than 6 hours - but they are listed at 6 to 9. I take them sometimes once, but often twice daily as I work long hours and find if I don't take twice I can peter out around the 8 hour mark. Then I make mistakes and well you know how that goes over.
Only side effects I've had are occasional sleep problems (goes away - I'm on rotating shifts and still not an issue mostly), a couple of hours of hyper kinetic feelings (chatterbox and urge to clean or move about), diuretic effect (within a couple hours of dose), and some cramping if I don't eat smaller meals all day during taking it. My doc diagnosed me with Irritible Bowel for it - and I'm taking Gas-X and Dicetel for it with great success.
Feel free to ask anything that may help you - even just ADD related! I love to share and help all I can.
Glen
