My second pharmacist is very educated and well versed on ADHD. He actually explained the disorder clearer that my doc did. I guess this medication is pretty popular on the streets. I have to get a new prescription every month; and sign a contract that I would not share my med with anyone (From what my MD said. Wierd huh!) I can't call in any refills like with other meds. They are very cautious that people will "deal" these things. The pharmacist said "This is REALLY heavy man!" (I cracked up)
By the way; so far; this morning I just feel a little wired from it; but I was calmer driving into town. So far, so good.
All stimulants and narcotics are controlled substances and are required by law to ID the person getting the prescription. I need to call ahead by 3 days with my pharmacy so they can verify that my perscription is still current. Annoying and often difficult to do but better than having some punk kid finding out I have a script for "speed" and getting rich off it on the street! I am 39yr. female. I am also on concerta and (rit just when needed. Sometimes the concerta doesnt seem to last long) Concerta has been a godsend. One a day. I have been on it a year or so. Before that I tried different meds none of which worked as well. The ritalin worked but remembering to take 3 times a day is a joke. Some pharmasists put you thru the ringer when ordering it. Especially when I dont want people to know I am on it. I know I shouldnt be embarrassed but there are only a few people I know will understand the ADD. My mother 65yrs. knows she has it too. After we heard the symptoms we knew right away. So obvious. I love the concerta, and I just got a letter from my med. insurance saying the Dr.'s have to do a review now in order to prescribe it for anyone over 12 yrs. or if you dont have a certain disease. I cant remember the name of it. Finally I find something that works and now they have to make it more difficult!!!! I am so upset. It is bad enough that I cant get refills. You have to get a new rx everytime. Though thank goodness I get mail order rx for 3 months at a time. But I must remember to make an appt. with Dr. before the 3 months for new rx. Sometimes he cant get me in right away because I wait too long to call. I have a hard time keeping track of rx's. Especially because I also have bad allergies and my kids also and one has asthma so I have lots to keep track of. Sorry I am babbling like I so often do. chattyI went to get my second prescription filled for Conerta and Ritalin. The pharmacist called the doctor to varify it. It took an hour! I was on my lunch break and then when they finally had it ready they asked to see my license. I have been using that pharmacy off and on for ten years> Anyone one have this problem??? Talk about stereotyping. I am pissed.Yeah! My pharmacy acted like I was some kind of drug addict and wouldn't honor the "free 30 day trial" for Adderall. I was so mad after waiting that I told him off and stormed out. (Thus ACTING like a drug addict. Hehe!) The second pharmacy was nice; but all out of Adderall. He told me that on the street; 1 pill might go for 100 bucks. (I kinda doubt it) Anyway; they had to order it and I get it this evening (hopefully)How awful!
Is it possible the pharmacy had problems with people stealing or counterfeiting perscriptions? It is quite popular now as a recreational drug with teens. It may be new policy or even law that these safety precautions have to be followed.
(if you find out different and it is discrimination, sue the creeps!)
