Update on Tiff, finally finding real helpThis is an update from a posting that I placed a few weeks ago about my daughter and Concerta. My daughter was becoming very violent on the Concerta and I wasn't getting help from her pediatrician. And when she was on Adderall she lost 10 lbs. Well, this has been the week of Dr. appointments. Last Thursday it started after my leaving messages for every Dr. that Tiff has. First I saw her psychologist, she told me to stop meds at once if Tiff was violent. Then she called from her office and got me a reputable psychiatrist that she collaborates with. He called me Friday and was very concerned. Monday I went to see him with my hundreds of pages of reports and notes since I first thought something was going on in preschool. He assured me that we would find something that would help Tiffany. He asked me to trust him and it may take several attempts but we would find her fit. Can I tell you that those were the first reassuring words I have heard since she was diagnosed in December. I felt like it truly will get better this time. Tuesday he met Tiffany. She wasn't medicated (that has been hard for Tiff and myself). Last week after I saw the psychologist and she told me to stop medication, the first night by 7pm, Tiff couldn't control herself at all and she was crying, begging me to give her a pill. It was heart wrenching to say no to her. Anyway, he administered some short test himself, which just confirmed the ADHD, and then started to talk to her about her anger. I can tell that she likes him, she opened up right away. He said he could see such a nice, happy young lady who is trapped in the wrong medication. Next week after he gets a chance to speak to all of her other doctors, he is going to formulate a plan for what medication to start with. This morning Tiff saw her psychologist and that was a good visit as well. This Saturday we see the pediatrician for Tiff's annual checkup and for me to say, I have found someone that will listen when I speak and who is willing to help Tiff, not just treat her as a name and number. Just wanted to let everyone know what is going on as I promised. I will let you know what he decides to try first. Laura
I am so happy for you and Tiff both! Hope he hits on the right meds on his first try! Great news sounds like you found an awesome doc. Horray as most of know that is hard to find. Keep us posted. I am curious what he will decide to try her on. bridget |
