Me and my son on Adderal / Straterra | ADHD Information

My son is 9 and was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia about 2 years ago.
He would occasional have emotional outbursts prior to starting any medications(usually if provoked by his sister or a friends)...Crying, screaming,slaming doors...etc. The doctors said he was under stress
from his school difficultys.

He started Adderal 5MG XR about a year ago and after about 3 months on it. he began to have more extreme outbursts. The doctors added 1Tsp. of antidepressant Lexipro. That seemed to mellow his
outbursts, but now I believe the Lexipro really just curbed the Adderol side affects (outbursts).

I also was diagnosed as a child Dyslexia, And after filling in a doctors questionair about my sons symptoms
it sounded just like me! I.E. are you unorginized,
often dont complete things,only interested in what you like (selfish)....Etc.

After explaining this to my doctor he put me on Adderol
I was on it in varying doses for about 21/2 weeks.
I got a taste of what my son was dealing with with
Adderol. While many normal distractions disappeared,
I allways (even on a low dose) was aware that I was
slightly out of it (druged) and became easily irritated and inraged at things that normaly would not bother me.
While talking with a Client I cut him off and allmost got into an argument with him, something I would never normaly do. I weened off Aderall as quikly as possible and the rage went away. Now I have new understanding
when my son blows up.

The doctor has now put him on Straterra and weening him off the lexipro and Adderol. I hope the Straterra will
not cause the same iritability as the Adderal?

My doctor just started me on Straterra yeasterday so I will again get to experiance what affects it is having on my son. I'm hoping for the best, less iritability !
