I WILL BE SEEING THE DOC. SOON BUT I AM WONDERING IF I AM JUST NOT EATING ENOUGH CALORIES DURING THE DAY TO COMPENSATE FOR WHEN IT WEARS OFF?  I DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TAKING IT TODAY TO SEE IF I GO THROUGH ANY OF THIS IN THE EVENINGS WITHOUT IT.  THANKS FOR THE REPLY AND SORRY FOR THE CAPS!

i have been on 27 mgs of concerta now for about one month and most evenings it seems about 8 to 9 hours after taking it that i experience some dizzyness and  unsteadiness to the point that i have to sit down and i feel so ravished even if i have eaten and eating a ton of food will help but mostly it takes a good hour then it is gone but it leaves me feeling exhausted and scared!

i have even taken my glucose level when this happens and like today i thought for sure it would be very low but it was 91~~  i just dont understand what is going on when this happens!  i eat when i take it cause i get hungry yet i get this spells so to speak and they are scaring me off it!

i also take 10 mgs of celexa right now before bedtime but this happens early evening around 5-ish when it is wearing off.  i have taken 10 mgs of ritalin when it happens but it seems it just has to run its course then it is done with.

any ideas on why this is happening and how can i make it stop!  or i am going to just have to quit taking it...and i dont know what else to take cause adderall xr makes me so hungry for junk food carbs and strattera caused me horrible mood and nightmares and my dr. was thinking of imipramine but i have mitral valve prolapse and tachycardia and is out of options for me....the regualr ritalin does the same thing if i take two doses but if i only take one dose in the a.m. i am fine but by the time i take the 2nd dose it does this to me as well....do you  have any hope you can offer me?  pl

I'd talk to your doctor about these symptoms. Sounds like you are having contraindications or are possibly comobird with drug interactions.

Best of luck!

One 27 mg Concerta is most likely NOT enough to get you through the day (My son @ 16 was taking 54mg) AND...QUIT with the other meds!  You are not only messing with your HEART but you can't bombard your BRAIN with all of these different meds and expect your brain to figure out what you are trying to MAKE IT DO!  I would get dizzy too! (Don't mean to lecture but...what you are doing is scarring ME!)  This link at the bottom of this post is a VERY informative message about Strattera.  Even if you wish to stick with Concerta, you may be able to apply some of the "techniques" of acclimating your body to this medication.  You could increase the daily dose total and try taking a 1/2 dose 2 times a day so that it DOESN'T wear off till bedtime & send your brain in a dizzy-tizzy.   Maybe like the Strattera, body weight comes in to play.  Strattera preferred dose is 1.2 mgs for every 2.2 lbs. of body weight? Who knows, but one thing I know for sure, if you have any kind of heart condition, amphetamines should be the LAST medication on your list & MIXING is a BIG NO NO!  Truthfully, the Doctors don't often know EXACTLY what a pharmaceutical does to your body & brain, they get LIMITED medication information from the Pharmaceutical companies that peddle their wares leaving free samples at the Physicians office to dole out.  ASK YOUR PHARMACIST!  Please go READ THE SCHWAB LINK...Your body has to go through an acclimation period when you start and you have to wean yourself off of one medication before you subject your brain to another.  PLEASE be careful with the combination of medication you are putting into your body!  Stick with one...Read the Schwab link, print it, bring it to your Pharmacist...see what they say about You vs Conserta vs Strattera...YOUR BODY IS YOUR TEMPLE and your Heart & Brain keep that temple moving...be KIND to it and YOU WILL BOTH BE HAPPY & FUNCTIONAL TOGETHER!!!        We Like HAPPY don't we?  Thanks for listening!  (Didn't mean to sound like such a MOM!  but I DO resemble that remark!)  GOOD LUCK!

Ooops, you're right.

Concerta is methylphenidate, slow release.

I was thinking ADDerall. ADDerall is methamphetamine, right?
Concerta is methamphetamine. Ritalins is methylphenidate. Strattera is a non-stimulant atomoxedine.
Wrong..Concerta IS Ritalin and BOTH are methylphenidate

Yes, Adderall is methamphetamine, as so is Dexedrine. They are stronger stims than methylphenidate.

To the original poster, you should definitely talk to your doctor about all this! If necessary, it would be better to have unmedicated ADD than to try living with side effects and/or risk interactions.

Hi Jamieileanna

What is your body mass (weight) and how many calories do you consume on average per day?
