School Lunches- Natural Ovens

Does anyone know anything about this place that offers healthy schhol lunch programs? It was featured in the film SUPERSIZE ME and is called Natural Ovens Bakery. There is a high school for behavior cases and they report that overall behavior improved after they switched to this lunch program.

psm- I bet you know about this- I think the school or the company are in WI.  Please comment.

Also- what is your opinion on your school's lunches.  At my kid's school the food seems very unhealthy.

My sons school doesn't provide lunch so we have to pack - I would love to hear suggestions from anyone.

Every school I have been in  that does provide seems to have junk and vending machines with more junk.

We don't buy school lunches, mainly because my two older children have migraines.  The neurologist who treats them told us school lunches are filled with MSG and other additives and preservatives, which can trigger migraines.  So my kids brown-bag it every school day.

what is in your brown bags? My kids also take lunch and never eat school lunch because they eat so little I get atleast an idea of what they are eating by what is left in the lunchbox after school....  That way I also know that what little they do eat is quality...I will not allow my son to eat school lunches, except on rare, special occassions, just so he can act like the rest of the children every now and then.  I pack his lunch, and I make sure I include whole grains, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and protein in every lunch.  I am quite strict about this, but I don't think my kid needs sugar and processed foods at school.  He needs as many vitamins going to his brain and nerves as possible.  I do let my son eat processed foods and sugar, but only after he has eaten healthy foods.  That way, he doesn't eat as much junk.  I am not a fanatic, but I do think most kids eat way too much junk these days.  JMHO.

I'm pretty much like Lillian.  My son, a very picky eater (sensory issues and a narrow band of taste and texture tolerances), will allow me to pack peanut butter and jelly, turkey or roast beef on whole wheat bread.  Tomatoes and/or cheese sometimes make their way into his sandwiches.  We add fruit, yogurt, fruit bar, granola bar -- whatever is in the house.  I don't typically add chips or cookies.  I buy all processed food at Whole Foods or Trader Joes so they don't have additives and preservatives (those nasty migraine triggers!).
