I found that after starting dexedrine spansules the distraction was gone really quickly! Where I would be off in a day-dreamy state where I was totally involved in whatever my ADD mind was cooking, I now find that if I'm daydreaming, the smallest movement or sound will snap me back. If there is no outside stimuli to do it - within a few seconds I usually get bored with whatever was in my head.
I find that instead of things around me confusing me or making me want to travel inside myself to avoid it - now I'm craving stimuli from people, music, tv whatever I can absorb!
It's improved my work a whole lot. Where I spent my time doing the minimum required to just keep my job, now I actively look for things to improve not only my work but those around me, trying to do what's right instead of what's easy.
It paid off a lot. Just last night on my graveyard shift, during our weekly state-of-the business meeting, I received a certificate of excellence - for going "above and beyond the call of duty - for trying to set an example of excellent work habits for all around him". Wow first time I'd even heard of one of those! Got a 25 dollar gift certificate for pizza too. I don't know if I am going to use that or get it framed! This year has by far been the most amazing for my work and home life.
clear head would be great...I am wondering what a clear head feels like...Mine is always in a fog...I just don't understand why one day my adderal is good and the next day it is not effective...what is dexidrine?dexedrine sulfate is almost the same as adderal - just different mixtureHi Glen...I take Adderal 20mg time release every morning...Some days I am focused for 4 hours top..clear in the head and other days, like to day I am in a fogg and I can't seem to shake it...Does dexedrine to the same thing??? Lambiekin...
dexedrine spansules (read XR) give me around 6 hours clearest mind and fast action. starts working within 30 minutes. I use 30 - 40mg twice daily and it gives me the 12 hours I need to stay on course. I can do overtime, chum with friends and even be happy and cheery here dammit!! LOL
I think it must be better than adderal - at least it works so very well for me.
Also, it's had a lasting effect that I can still focus for around 2 to 3 days after I cut it off. But it starts to get pretty damn bad after that.
Thorns4Life38729.5834375
what is dexidrine?
Generic Name: amphetamine and dextroamphetamine
Brand Name: Adderall, Adderall XR
Drug Class And Mechanism: Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are used in combination to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. Adderall stimulates the brain and also can increase blood pressure. In a recent small study in children with ADHD, the effects of Adderall lasted longer and were preferred over methylphenidate (Ritalin), the most commonly used drug for ADHD. Adderall XR is an extended release form of Adderall. Adderall was approved by the FDA in 1996.
nobodyADDall
What is benzidrine?
sounds like the adderal isn't the right formula for you - perhaps your MD has to up it? I know that diet will affect it - for example a high-fat low fiber diet will decrease the effects. Some other meds will make it lessen too. Body weight is supposed to be something for it too but I'm 200 lbs and no trouble.
If your doc is still in the dark I'd recommend you get a new one. After all - they work for you and if they aren't working - take your money someplace that does!
I found Ritalin to help me with my distration problem.Adultadhd
how does ritalin help with impulse control?
I find that it helps with that as well.
distraction is normal with ADHD. Some meds do help with it. That is a part of why it is so difficult for us to be focused. It is not necessarily a lack of self control.
I haven't tried anything other than Welbutrin so I can't really answer questions on meds. I can tell you that you are a "normal ADHDer"!
Well, as barb said, distraction is normal for ADHD. But no, it's not normal for 'normal people'. My therapist was asking me to describe what it's like (she's got ADD and wanted to make sure that I have it), I gave her an example of how my thoughts typically run. I told her that I just thought that everyone dealt with these problems - she said No, it's not normal.
My husband was mad last night because he's been light on sleep lately and he's having trouble keeping track of things. He complained of thinking of something that he needed to do but by the time he finished his task he was doing, he forgot what it was that he was thinking of.
I told him that he 'sounds like me'. He said "I'm just tired, I get this way when I'm tired, it's not a disorder..." I looked at him and said, "I'm not like this just occasionally - I'm like this ALL the time. I've ALWAYS been like this."
As much as he's trying to understand, he's not getting it.
There's alot of great things I like about my ADHD but I really want to find something that can cut down the distractions so that I can get tasks completed. That's what I'm looking for.
My distraction seems out of control or is it normal to be distracted and I just lack self-control? I take adderall and stratterra. So has anybody had any luck with distraction using another med?
