MONTHLY VISITS FOR Adderall MEDS????

I just got back from doctor (in Fla) who tells me some law passed or something like that  and doctors of prescribed schedule II drugs (pain killers / stimulants) MUST see their pateients EACH MONTH to prescribe it again!! I was only seeing him every 3 months!!!

He would not prescribe me a third dose of adderall (regular) because he said it was too risky. though I have been on twice daily dose for 3 years.

he said addults are not supposed to take adderall xr. This is a family physician. He told me about "pharm parties" etc.    (though I am 32 years old and a professional)

Anyway, I left with 30 mgs  XR once a day/// I was on 30 mgs regular twice a day.... The XR seems not as effective....

Anyone else heard of this?

cincin7238568.80875Get a new doctor. Yes your doctor must write a prescription monthly for Adderall or Adderall XR.  They have to do this for all controlled II substances.  My doctor writes my script for a 30 day supply to be taken two times a day.  I only take one a day, my Adderall XR lasts for two months.  Something you might want to ask your doctor to do?  I just call my dr's office every two months and she will just write another one for me to pick up.  BUT.......I had to make a promise to her that I would check in and see her every four months or so for a 10 minute visit or if I started having any side effects or questions.  Needless to say, I saw her monthly for about six months before she started to do this.  Yeah i've heard of it before, I hated Addrerall, my son was on it, we switched to strattera, but i remember we had to see the Dr. every 2 months to get a new prescription for it. The last time I went to get my meds, I went to a pharmacy I'd never been to before to try and get the brand name adderall.  Anyway, when the pharmacist was ringing up my order, he asked me how long I've had the prescription.  So I told him a couple months. (My doc gives me like 8 months  in advance, I've been taking adderall for over 4 years).  Then the pharmacist said that I'd have to start going every month because of a new Tennessee law.

What I was wondering is this:  I would get the SAME piece of paper regardless of whether I get the script early or every month. Aside from me telling him when I get it, what's the difference?  It is the SAME paper with the SAME words on it...

small world - I'm in TN too.  There really is no difference.  The only thing I would suggest is to not "advertise" you get your scripts in advance to the pharmacists, etc.  You don't want to get your doctor in trouble for doing that for you.  As you well know, TN govt., etc. are quick to jump on things like that and you don't want to get the doctor in trouble.
