Well, ok...I'm 38...and I'm not really sure why it isn't working--or I'm not understanding what you are asking. But I will say that I don't feel like I am able to think, concentrate, focus, pay attention, etc necessarily any better now than before I started taking it...though there may be some slight improvement. My life partner told me the other day that she thought there had been a change but we weren't there yet.
I guess I'm still looking for the light at the end of the tunnel...you know...the one that isn't a train. And the "infamous" "aha" moment...would be alright as well. So, does that clarify? Or is there something else? Just ask...Peace.
I'm a M...
The closest support group is across town and would require at least 45 min of travel...and with my work schedule, when I am working (off contract at present), it really isn't feasable anyway.
I don't know. I am going to step back to 72mg of Concerta starting tomorrow. (I dropped myself back to 54 over the weekend--108 was wigging me out.)
I'm not gonna hold my breath. I still really don't know what to expect. The doc seems to think that Concerta is the right thing--in fact, he has not mentioned any alternatives. I don't know.
(An aside--anyway, whatever, and I don't know are my favorite things to say...not necessarily because I like to...I just, well, say them...weird, huh?)
I'm beginning to wonder if I even have AD(H)D...who knows? I mean this doctor runs an Attention Deficit Clinic...he oughta know something...I guess...I just don't know...what to do, what to think, or where to go and think it.
Anyway, whatever...gonna take the 72mg for 3 days...see where that gets us...
It's very typical for the first medication you try not to work. That's why
Has anyone here gone from Concerta to something else?
I am currently on Concerta @ 108mg, and it does not seem to be doing the trick...anyone else do something similar...and did you ever find something that worked for you?
I am so new to all of this...it is a little confusing
I have to call the doc tomorrow and report in...I guess I'll tell him I don't think it's working...
Thanks! Peace.
Can you give a bit more detail? Your age and why it isn't working for you would be helpful!

Well, it got us no-where really...gonna stop taking the Concerta...seeing the doc tomorrow...don't know what will happen next...or where we'll go...
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and adult ADD about 6 months ago. I also have depression, OCD, and panic disorder. My psychiatrist tried Concerta, but it made me feel nervous. He switched me to Lamictal and that has definitely worked. The "normal" dosage is 200 mg/day. However, my psychiatrist has attended several seminars and discussions where other doctors have said they use higher dosages and it works well. I'm now taking 400 mg/day.
Lamictal is NOT for children! It's intended for adults. And you MUST start at a very low dosage and gradually increase the dosage. The pharmacutical company has a starter pack, which my doctor used.
Also, I thought that once I started all of my new medications for ADD and bipolar, I would be "fixed" and have no more problems. WRONG! Both my therapist and psychiatrist say I would still have problems, but they wouldn't be as severe or disruptive. We are now looking at ways in which I can identify my main problems and what I can do to improve them. That is starting to help. So, work with your doctors about doing something similar. I guess just taking meds doesn't correct all of the problems. Also, my entire life is so stressful that we have to deal with that also.
I hope this helps some of you.

Deep River...may I ask if you started on very low dosage (at least 18 or 27mg) of Concerta...and worked up to 108mg. My doctor says the highest dosages should only be 80mg. ?? Anyway, starting at a high dosage doesn't allow your body to acclimate to the med. And it takes a while for you to on Concerta. Some people have great success at 18 mg or 37 mg, even 54 mg. I wish you luck!
