Do phone calls annoy you? | ADHD Information

I have this urge to just hang up on people.. I haven't done it but really want to sometimes. They will call right at the end of a show I have been watching for an hour and I never know how it ends. Or they just keep talking and I have NO interest! I have cought myself SEVERAL times taking the phone away from my ear and looking at it.... Thinking Can I just Disconnect???

Yes, they do. Unexpected, or expected.
Although I love my kids, I cringe when the phone rings. However, if it is one of them, then I de-cringe. I do not have caller ID. Maybe it's the noise of the ringer.

You know what totally messes me up and drives me nuts if I'm working on something, is I think of these threads, and I go there instead of working on things I really need to work on...

Oh, Dave...absolutely my biggest pet peeve!

When I want to talk (not a frequent occurance) I will call, but I do feel intruded upon when someone calls. Which is kind of selfish of me......aren't we supposed to be grateful someone thinks enough of us to call? Or are you as cynical as I am....they only call because THEY want to talk?

And I know about the work thing too. Some people are under the mistaken idea that they have to be friendly and ask how my weekend was, etc, etc, ad nauseum...before they get to the point.

I do feel like a creep though. They think I'm kind of antisocial at work because I don't have lunch with everyone and I don't go around chatting people up. I wish I could tell them that I cannot afford another distraction....and that I cannot focus on a single conversation in the lunchroom, with 9 women talking at once.

Sometimes I wish.....

I was just wondering if Phone calls when your not expecting them annoy you. It drives me nuts and totally messes me up if I am working on something, then after the call I can't remember where I was or get motivated again. I have a hard time being nice, and usually kind of rush the call. It isn't that I don't care, but I just don't have the room in my brain for this right now LOL

This also happens when someone comes up to me at work needing something, I have this horrible urge to tell them to hurry up, your distracting me. I know if I give them my 100%, I have to loose the 100% I was giving something else, and its not like I can go back LOL,

                                     Sounds selfish I know

Yes! Phone calls annoy me, even if they're from family members! The phone itself drives me insane! There are times I wish it was never invented!  When it rings it catches my entire nervous system and brain off guard, and I end up going haywire. It can be very distracting!

I just hate talking on phones in general, so naturally I hate being interrupted by the things.

Some people call just to blab on about nothing, so I stop paying attention to them and go back to what I was doing while they're still on the phone. I don't do it to be rude, but listening just gets so boring.

At work, I always cringe when the phone rings. I really don't like dealing with customers over the phone. In person, it's okay, but there's something about phones that I just dislike immensely. . .

I don't accept phone calls unless it's expectedI HATE phones with a passion. I almost never answer them. When I do, I just wait for the opportunity to politely say Good Bye. People who have their special ring tones and sparkly cell phone personalizations baffle me. Why dress up a MONSTER?!?! Yuck phones.

I hardly ever answer the phone.  Only if I'm nearby, I might look at the caller I.D. to see who it is.  I figure I have it for my convience, and I can always return calls at a better time.

Do you ever jump in surprise when the phone rings?
My second cell phone this year is broken. I should quit slamming it in disgust when it rings while I;m driving. :-)
Just like everyone else posting here I dislike phones.  Its OK if I initiate the call....but I hate to be interupted....there goes my phone.....................................I'm back...did anyone miss me.....no.................oh well.
Hey,  I missed you, LTC1!

Typically, anything that disrupts, changes, alters, or deviates the plan of action or what I am doing, etc annoys me.  Sometimes to the extent of "freezing" and not being able to do anything...

Another thing that irritates me is people not responding to emails.  I took the time to sit down and write to you and you cannot respond?  And it irritates me to no end...
